Presentation: Generic Portablizer Prototype

Hallo everybody!

Please don't erase this thread or kill me for advertising, but give a chance to my little open source project:

Few years ago i bought a usb stick, wich also included U3 and thought of it as a good idea. But i was unhappy, that there were only so few Apps available. Afterwards I found out, that there is PortableApps, but i still was unhappy and asked myself whether it should not be possible, to get any application portable. Well, there are known solutions like ceedo, but i wanted one for free. So more than one year ago i started my own software project, to achieve this, and it is still far from beeing finished, but it is already working in big parts and i want, to present it to you, so perhaps one, two or more developers might join in, because it is too much work for me, to finish it. The Program and Sourcecode is publicly available at nomis.4lima.de. Well, im not the best coder and it is almost not documented, but even if you don't like it, you might take the techniques as a suggestion, to create a new project from scratch.

What is it

Is this some portable apps? An app to portabalize programs? What are you asking for? Developers of new apps?

Portablizer

It's a portablizer, but you can't redistribute works you make based on it as it's made using Microsoft Detours Express. For commercial or production use and redistribution, you have to buy the Pro version which costs $9,995.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

No, John is alright, its not

No, John is alright, its not just Apps, but a portablizer, which is using Microsoft Detours. Thatswhy also alright, it is forbidden, to use it commercally. But I don't intend to sell it, but rather make it open source, like PortableApps, and there is no reason, for creating commercial apps for it, as any existing program should be running portable with it.

Two excerpts from the Microsoft Detours license:

You may use, copy, reproduce, and distribute this Software for any non-commercial purpose,

You may not use or distribute this Software or any derivative works in any form for commercial purposes. Examples of commercial purposes would be [...]using the Software in the creation or use of commercial products or any other activity which purpose is to procure a commercial gain to you or others

Well, i am not a native english speaker, but as I understand commercial, it means, to gain money and as this is not intended, I think, it should be allowed, to use the library under the free license.

Your suggestion is right: It

Your suggestion is right: It is an application, to portablize programs, so it's similar to PortableApps.com, but the important differenc is, that, in contrast to PortableApps, it is (intendet to be) constructed in a way, that allows running any application portable, without have to do settings and knowing, what registry keys are necessary and so on.

Thatswhy i am not searching developers for new apps, but rather for my project itself, as it occurs to me, that it becomes to big for me and is far from completion. And as I have seen, that some on this forum had got the same idea already a long time before and have thought about, how to implement it (although, they seem, not to be active any longer, look at https://portableapps.com/node/297), i thought, i could find some developers here, as there is already a working prototype existing.
