If you paid for just the software, by all means, return it! You shouldn't have to pay for something that's available for free. Unless you bought a book or something, and Audacity was included in that.

I hear it often/sometimes comes included with devices so people can start recording/editing/whatever.

I even have seen it rebranded some time ago. Kind of lame.
But I think including Audacity often is a better solution than packing some horrid closed source crap.
