Has anyone been able to get UltraVNC working on a system using Zonealarm, a NAT router and WindowsXP?
I'm using UltraVNC with Portable UltraVNC Viewer. I've portforwarded 5900 and 5800 on both my router and my ZoneAlarm, and tested my port 5900, plus i'm using the correct IP address and i've given my computer a static IP address also. However for some reason when i go to connect using the VNC viewer, it keeps telling me the connection has failed. Any thougths on how to get this working?
Port 5900 should be correct... It is specified by the computer you are connecting to - it can be changed, so you should probably check it's right. Sometimes you have to specify which display you want to use, normally it's 1 I think, try 0 as well though!
Why use Zonealarm as well as a assumably firewalled router?
Check that your password is correct.
Just to make sure.

I've put it down to the VNC server address that i input into the viewer. I've got it working over a network, but cant seem to get it working over the internet.
I've used this site http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/nettest.cgi to get my IP address, but is that address all i enter into the address field?
I think you might have to put your ip:0 like this:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0
Try that and the same with 1 or 5900 instead of 0. I think that's right... I haven't actually used UltraVNC, but have used VNC about a year ago, and remember having problems working it out. The number at the end is the display to connect to - I have to manually specify it, but I can't really remember how - think thats it though!
