I had been using LO 3.5.0 and had installed the extension "fixed values for calc". When I upgraded to 3.5.2 the extension was no longer there and I needed to reinstall it. I have updated USB flash drives on both an XP machine and a Win 7, 64 machine with the same results. Is this to be expected? Can I prevent it?
I tried searching but didn't see anything relevant to this.
While it is easy to reinstall an extension (particularly if you have a copy handy) this would be a nuisance if several extensions were installed, or if you have several external drives to update which was my case.
Thanks all you people who make this stuff available.
One final bit of info, what's the full path to LibreOffice Portable? Is it installed to ?:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable?

The path is as you describe: ?:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable. I haven't done any messing around with the install. Everything is installed in the conventional manner.
I can confirm this, the update disabled/uninstalled all extensions that were not part of the paf-package.
Please add a [Bug] to the beginning of the title so oit shows up ub the bug tracker and gets noticed better.

I tried it with 'fixed values for calc' and it survived an upgrade from 3.5.2 to 3.5.2 as well as a path change. It also survived being upgraded to 3.5.3 (the build that is releasing this week) and there's nothing different about its installer either. If you install the extension properly (not for all users, just for you), it lives within the Data directory which is not touched by the installer at all.

I had selected "all users" at install time. The next time an update comes through I'll try "just for you". Thanks for the suggestion. I would not have thought this would make a difference.
I've confirmed that the mentioned extension was still intact after upgrading from 3.5.2 to 3.5.3.
