Release Notes:
Pre-release 2 (May 26th 2012) :
- The only thing new with this is that the gtk runtime is much smaller since it's now compiled a monolithic library (courtesy of this project so it more lightweight, the only thing left to do is enhance the gtk patch set for extended use to work with the spell check capabilities
Pre-release 1 (April 24th 2012):
- general bug fixes, no real new features, a good portion of the core has some glib functions rewrote and the main features of PChat are also up to par with XChat too.
also forgot to mention this is spell check enabled but I have not added dictionaries, at the moment basic features is what I'm looking to be tested, once I'm sure it's ready Spell Check dictionaries will be added later.

Default location of downloads needs to be changed with launcher ini of the pchat.conf now just to decide where to put it. I understand the idea od the PA Doc dir but if user not using platform will cause issues with the PA Doc folder not existing. How about a dir in data or in the PChat dir for downloads?

Just a pet peeve of mine anot meant at you in particular but IMHO a pre release should create its own directory and not overwrite and hence delete an older stable release? Sort of like GordCaswell did with his Gimp beta?

If it is a quite separate version (especially where multiple versions are maintained simultaneously) or published by a different author, a different AppID is expected; when it's just a continuation of a portable app, in preparation for release, the AppID should not change.

Here's my suggestion:
Using this Custom.nsh, and adding these FileWrite sections to the launcher.ini, you can allow for either PA.cDocuments for Dcc downloads, if the platform is installed, or PChat's Data directory if it isn't.
Oh, and the default directory you build in should be exactly as follows, so it can be replaced on first run as above: {INITIALDCCDOWNLOADDIR}
Also, LANG should be %PAL:LanguageCustom%, and DefaultIfExists should be DefaultIfNotExists.
Additionally, in order to save the language between runs, add these sections to the launcher.ini.
Sorry it's all split up, I tackled things as I saw them.
if there is no more feed back, I'll proceed with Pre-Release 2 which will include spell check, I'll try to do that before I pack up the computer for my move to my new apartment tomorrow

new pre-release, I did not get to adding spell check due to some library issues but it should be the last pre-release needed to go final
