It's a bug in the main Audacity zip package that isn't properly using the Visual C runtimes. I'll have a patched version out shortly. We should probably let Audacity know about the issue as well.

you hav eit patched please let us know what the issue was as I can not duplicate it, but I am by no means a programmer. I have even tried it on a "clean: XP SP3 and can not crash it. Maybe it is not as clean as I think it is. Hence by knowing the issue I may be able to fix the alleged clean machine. Thanks

it showing in Processes? I have tested on XP an d Windows 7 and all is good?

You probably have the visual c/c++ runtimes installed on your machine already.
Dell Computer came with it Guess that is what I get for doing a complete reformat and then not seeing what was on it?

This is fixed in Audacity Portable 2.0 Rev 2.
