I want to launch RocketDock automatically after I insert my USB drive.
I have an autorun.inf file which I use to designate an icon for my drive. Although I have tried using OPEN and ACTION to list RocketDock in the Autoplay menu, the menu remains unchanged.
Portable Startup Utility will launch RocketDock, but I still have to launch Portable Startup Utility.
There must be some way to accomplish this simple result, but what is it?
since Microsoft disabled the auto start on insertion feature of Windows

In fact, it could be possible with a .vbs and a U3 disk, running the .vbs from the autorun.inf. Of course, then you'll still have to open the CDFS partition. It won't work on every pc...
Yes, I set the working directory!
U3 doesn't autostart either now.

It brings up the autorun menu that asks you wanna do (that one that PAM used to bring). It doesn't automatically start the U3 menu up though, but I think it's better this way.
And then you can convert RocketDock Portable into a U3 app with my little gadget and set that to start with U3 automatically. Not perfect, but about as close as you can get.
A standard Windows autoplay opens asking you which standard option you want to choose; open for pictures, open for music, etc.
I think Microsoft could have done better. A window that would open and ask if you wanted to run the file specified in the autorun.inf file would have been more useful and just as secure. imo
And yes I remember your "little gadget". Ah the good old days.

Are you sure? I know what when I mount a virtual CD .iso, I get the autorun menu option to run setup to the program, and then the standard options of pictures/music/explorer. And of course it doesn't work for my USB drive.
Actually, with Vista I get the menu asking if I want to run the autorun if I plug in my U3.
You're right, no autostart, I just have to select the option. Or I have to click the CD partition in My Computer, this ain't that hard to do. It's as close as it gets.
Yes, I set the working directory!
