Older version of LibreOffice

The LibreOffice release notes state that 3.6.x is for early adopters and power users. More conservative users should use 3.5.5. Where can I get a portable installation of the older version?

try here

http://www.libreoffice.org/download/portable/

As of a few minutes ago, 3.5.5 was still available at the above site. It could disappear at any time when they get around to updating the page.

Not Exactly Correct

It's more akin to LibreOffice 3.6.x is for all normal users and 3.5.x is for conservative corporations and universities. Like Firefox vs Firefox ESR. That's why the default version offered for download on LibreOffice.org is 3.6 and they don't even suggest 3.5.

Would you release new LibreOfficePortableLegacy35 soon?

LibreOffice 3.5.6 is released August 15th, 2012.

http://blog.documentfoundation.org/2012/08/15/libreoffice-3-5-6-is-avail...

The Document Foundation invites power users, able to help iron out any final wrinkles, to read the release notes carefully, install LibreOffice 3.6.x, and report any problems. More conservative users should stick with LibreOffice 3.5.
However, LibreOffice Portable (Legacy) 3.5.x is not available as download!
And I will not be able to follow the download link from PortableApps.
Would you release latest 3.5.x based legacy portable version soon?

No Plans Right Now

We currently have no plans to support a legacy channel of LibreOfficePortable. LibreOffice is our most complicated app to build and takes hours of mostly manual work to build and test each version. We'd rather spend our limited development time working on the main channel of LibreOffice 3.6.x (which is the only version LibreOffice promotes on their homepage and download page) as well as our other apps and platform than support a legacy office build that will only be used by a small percentage of users.

If LibreOffice's publishers change and promote 3.5.x to their users alongside the 3.6.x channel or we suddenly wind up with more development time and assistance, we'll reconsider the decision.

I understand not wanting to

I understand not wanting to make a portable version of every release of LO. But could you just make the older versions that have already been developed available for download?

Same Position

LibreOffice releases legacy versions alongside the current supported build. So if we build 3.5.6, people are going to ask for 3.5.7, too. And both of those are lacking features in functionality in 3.6.x and will never get it. And when they release 3.7, people will ask for the next 3.6.x release after 3.7 as well. Basically, it's never ending and not a good use of development time. Most users are using the current branch as that is the only version 99% of users visiting the LibreOffice.org site will see.

Maybe I didn't explain very

Maybe I didn't explain very well. What I mean is, 3.5.4 has already been built, I downloaded it before. Suppose my installation has problems and I want to redownload it. But PortableApps has upgraded to 3.6.0 and I would prefer the older version I already had. Without building any more versions than you already have, is it possible to just make the old ones available for download? With the disclaimer that "these are all we've built, we're not building any more now that the newer one is released".

This wouldn't be any extra work, just a link.

The publisher chose to remove them, not us. We don't host this app.

Manual download still available

You could copypaste the link and edit it to download 3.5.5 as that is still available, don't know how long.
change http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/portable/3.6.1/LibreO... to http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/portable/3.5.5/LibreO... f.i.

There is no guarantee the this will work all the time, though.

This might be a better

This might be a better link.

In addition to what depp.jones said, there is also no guarantee that previous, dropped versions are indeed the file you're looking for.

Thanks for that link...

... but it gets even better. Wink

Try this:
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

Not every subversion has a portable counterpart, but at least every x.x.x release has one (as long as they don't get deleted due to space issues).
