Just thought I'd stop in and say that this is working great. I occasionally have issues where it will lock up, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the actual program and not the portablization of it.
I don't know why, but I think it's a limitation of running it from a flash drive (in my case). It happens with the original game, too. But if I copy the AssaultCube[Reloaded]Portable folder to the desktop of the same computer, it doesn't ever lock up.

ACR was built portable in the first place, no need for a portable version. Duh!

You guys should just post ACR on portableapps just to get it "out there"

ACR complies with all that, thats WHY I SAID IT WAS BUILT PORTABLE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
As are a good chunk of the officially released apps, but we still make them make them in PortableApps.com Fortmat for many reasons.

you viewed the PortableApps version? Did you look at the bat file that loads it? If so you will see the data folder has been set to comply with format of saving it in the data\settings folder. Also it appears that there are 2 separate folders for the app? Just because an app is or claims to be portable does not always make it portable nor does it comply with the specification sof the Portable Apps Format. Off course you are always welcomed to use whatever version of any software that you wish

2.5.8 is out and has been for a while. When might this be upgraded to use that version? I am a developer for the game and am perfectly willing to help if needed to maintain this at the most recent version. We are trying to get our game more publicity as it seems AssaultCube itself is having problems.

What should I be doing? I didn't see a way to PM him and I don't know how to setup a portableapp for distribution. I'm glad to do whatever I can and if there is a guide I can read it and try packing it to distribute.

AssaultCube Reloaded has not yet been officially released by us, and as such, the Dev responsible for portablizing the app (in this case it's prapper), should be informed the app is outdated, exactly as has been done, rather than contacting John - he has enough on his plate, and would undoubtedly redirect comments to this thread anyway.
If the app was official, notification would be made in the "Outdated Official Apps" page, found under the Development header above, at which point either the Dev who originally portablized the app (again, prapper) would prepare the update for release, or one of the other devs if needed.
Thank you for the clarification on what I should do. I guess I'll just wait for prapper to say if he needs something from us.

Since you're the developer, you could also release a portableapps.com version yourself; I've seen a few apps do that (like http://getgreenshot.org/version-history/).

I went through those articles and used much of the packaging that this package already had and created what seems to be a working installer for ACR. If people would test it, tell me if it works, and if it is up to PortableApps standards. If this does work what would we need to do to make it an official app?

Is this project still going? If so my game crashes after about 3 minutes of launching. Sometimes it's quicker.
