[Fixed] About Project Invincible Portable

Hello,

I'm the author of Project Invincible. I see that you posted Project Invincible Portable without asking my permission or even notifying me, but that's OK - because Project Invincible is under the GPL, you don't even need my permission. Smile

Anyway, I'd like to point out a couple of issues in your page:

  • "System Requirements: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8" is incorrect. Project Invincible will not run on Windows 2000.
  • "License: Free / Open Source (Launcher: GPL, Lucas Chess: GPL)". Apparently a copy-paste mistake.
  • The provided source code is the tarball for GNU/Linux. It's enough to build the game on GNU/Linux, but it's not the complete source code (it omits e.g. the Visual Studio project files). Full source code is on SVN. Source code for each release is in the tags directory, for example tags/2.02 for version 2.02.
  • The entry mentions that "You can [...] revolve the board by holding down the shift key and clicking and dragging with the mouse." An alternative way is to drag the mouse with the middle button pressed.

Finally, thanks for adding Project Invincible to your collection! Smile

Updated

I've updated the system requirements, license, source and revolve instructions. If you notice any other issues, please let us know.

Have you considered adding a Donate button to your project? We're happy to add it here as well (just below the download button) and to the app itself to help fund your efforts. We're debuting app donation links in the platform shortly, too.

Thanks

Thanks.

I'm afraid I'd hardly get any donations (see e.g. http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=61505#p61505). Sad However, I do plan to earn money with Project Invincible - by mentioning it in my CV and hoping that it will help me get employed in a commercial game company. Smile

Could Try It, New Icon

It could be worth a try on donations with your own app like this, especially as it starts gaining users.

Also on that end, I think a more polished icon could help a bit. I put together a quick modification of one from the Oxygen icon set that we regularly use (dual licensed as GPL and CC-BY) that might fit the bill:

We could do specific versions for the smaller sizes, too.

Another problem

There is also another problem: http://tortoisesvn.net/howpaypalscrewsopensourceprojects.html

Thank you for the icon. I'm a programmer, not an artist. Smile Please make all the sizes (256*256, 128*128, 48*48, 32*32 and 16*16).

BTW, Dusan Stamenkovic has created a logo: http://www.chessmosaic.com/Project%20Invincible1.html (He/she didn't contact me either.)

That's not the only issue with PayPal

My mailbox has more than 20 links to blog posts complaining about PayPal (most of them from Hacker Newsletter — this is one of the latests).
Stripe, on the other hand…

Previously known as kAlug.

It worked

"However, I do plan to earn money with Project Invincible - by mentioning it in my CV and hoping that it will help me get employed in a commercial game company."

It worked. I got employed at Rovio. Smile

Congrats

Congrats on the Rovio gig, sir. Hope it works out well.

You should encourage them to make their games portable Smile
