I had i terrible situation this morning.
I created all my Backup- and Syncjobs. FFS gave me it's "App" Folder as location. So i created a Jobs there.
Everything was fine but this morning, i installed the announced update.
BÄÄÄM there is no "Jobs" Folder anymore.
I'm glad i always run my Backup, even of my Backupsoftware.
I just restored my Jobs.
However i propose, you set another Location as default location, that will not be purged on upgrade.
Thanks.

Normally the app backups all *.ffs_gui and *.ffs_batch files from the \App\FreeFileSync folder. So you should place them in directly(no jobs folder or whatever), then they'll get backupped to \Data\ffs\somefolder...

Seriously, not everyone is going to look at the launcher.ini file to know where to place the files, put this is the readme, or at the app page or something...

Yes, I set the working directory!

Sorry to hear about that. Apps folders of all apps are wiped out on every upgrade. Storing things there is the equivalent of saving something to Program Files on a local PC. The files will be lost if you do this. Some apps, for some odd reason, will only default to their current path for the open/save dialog. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about that.

If he would have know that he should have put the files directly into the folder (hence, not a Jobs subfolder) nothing would have gone wrong.

Maybe all apps who allow "user file saving" could mention specific rules to follow in the help.html or the app page?

All apps are the same and should not have files saved to the Apps folder. There are really no other guidelines. Moving the jobs files back and forth was done in the launcher.ini as a simple courtesy for people who accidentally saved the jobs files in Apps\FreeFileSync. We could note that on the app homepage, but it likely would have not helped in this situation. We've learned from experience that no one reads the notes until they have a problem (and often not then either).
