When I click on this program in Portable Apps to load it, an ERROR BOX appears saying: "Failed to Register Hotkey for Menu Display" --- and nothing runs.
It's as if I had not even loaded the program, it's gone.
Can I fix this or should I just look for a different app that provides a similar service?
You have something else running on your system that's already using the hotkey Clicky Gone is trying to use. Clicky Gone can't handle this and shows an error. The default hotkeys are:
/ - shift - ctrl = hide active window
F12 - ctrl - alt = toggle all windows
return - ctrl - alt = toggle boss mode
C - ctrl - alt = display clicky gone menu
This is an issue with the app itself not error checking on hotkey registration and not an issue with the portable package. You can either remove those hotkeys on your PC from whatever app has registered them so you can start Clicky Gone and configure as you'd like. Or use another PC to change Clicky Gone's configuration so it doesn't conflict with your current PC's hotkeys.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I followed your advice and removed the ALT+CTRL+C hotkey that I was using for another program, and sure enough Clicky Gone started clicking away. Thanks.
One other Q: I notice that the CTRL/ALT Keys on the RIGHT side of my keyboard don't work with ClickyGone shortcuts; only the keys onthe LEFT side of Keyboard work. Have you seen this before?
Thanks again for your help. Its great talking to someone who knows what he is talking about.

It appears that Clicky Gone is keyed to only recognize the left CTRL and ALT keys, not the right ones. The left and right CTRL\ALT are different keys even though most apps treat them the same. I'm not sure why they went this route, but I confirm that they have. I think this is another limitation of Clicky Gone.

I guess we will have to live with it until they decide to improve it.

Problem is I'm not aware of any apps I have using one of my default Clicky Gone hotkey combinations.
How does one find a list of hotkeys a computer is using? I never programmed a hotkey myself, never bothered learning how. Too busy running my website, lol.
This is what I need help with: "You can either remove those hotkeys on your PC from whatever app has registered them so you can start Clicky Gone and configure as you'd like.
Thanks for helping if you can.
