Opera's mail client that is part of the current Opera 12.5x release has been split off as its own app in preparation for the Chrome/Blink/Webkit-based Opera 15 release. It has now hit 1.0 and should be quite stable, so I've packaged it up for release. I wanted to do a quick one day dev test just to ensure everything is sorted.

Please report back.
Downloaded OK
Installed OK to D:\PortableApps on a Win7 32 bit box
Ran up OK
New Account Wizard started automatically
Selected "Import generic mbox file" as don't have Opera, Eudora, Netscape T'bird or OE.
Pointed it to my myInfoToGo mail folder and it appeared to scan all my .mbx files
The following are not portablisation problems I guess but...
All folders were ignored, all received were put in the received box.
Bizarely there were 3 new messages in the inbox (which aren't in my inbox at my ISP):
one from BigFoot: "We need confirmation to activate your new email forwarding address"
two from Microsoft .NET Passport, one says "Welcome to Microsoft .NET Passport",
the other "Please verify your .NET Passport e-mail address"
I don't understand how these could be newly received as no Mail Accounts have been set up.
It could be corruption in the mbx files where the messages were there but never showed up in the interface. mbx files are notoriously unreliable and prone to corruption.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks, that was it.
I tried it and Works fine. I like the implementation.
Also, this test dissipated my worries of losing integration of mail and newsgroups.
Just one thing, that is an Opera matter.
Thanks for this test.
