Java platform

When I browse some web pages recently, there are some blocks saying the plugin is disabled.

Then I clicked manage plugins and then it showed java is outdated. However, after I downloaded and installed the latest java, the problem has no change (still the plugin is disabled).

Win7 64bit, FF portable 22

Anyone can help?

Thanks!

dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled - false or true?

However, after I downloaded and installed the latest java, the problem has no change (still the plugin is disabled).

And, how about the dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled preference in about:config? Have you toggled it from the default false value to true?

"On Windows, the preference dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled was added (starting in trunk builds after 10-15-2010) and is set to false by default, to prevent Java from running inside a plugin-container process because of stability issues when OOPP for Java is enabled (bug 603417)"

Oh yes, of course, that

Oh yes, of course, that couldn't possibly help. When revisiting this thread, I've realized how dumb my reply to your problem actually was. This must be a result of seeing many references about disabled Java in Firefox on the web, for quite a while, and here focusing on the keywords Java and enabled, and disregarding the plugin container part. So, my advice is to set that preference back to the default state to avoid any possible stability issues.

Seeing now that this is about your Firefox not recognizing the updated Java plugin, I would suggest to you to install completely new copy of Firefox Portable 22 in some other place, and check if it works with the updated Java. If not, then you would need to troubleshoot your system.

To make up for my previous amiss advice, I've installed latest Java (version 7 update 25) on my two java-free systems, one being WinXp, and the other Win7 64-bit, and could confirm that clean Firefox Portable 22, beside some other new and old versions, had no issues whatsoever with the Java Plugins.

If the problem is caused by the copy of Firefox in question, first try re-initialize the plugins database by deleting or renaming the pluginreg.dat file located in the profile folder.

If the problem is caused by the system, first make sure to uninstall any old versions of Java, including JavaFx.
