I'd like some assistance from folks in troubleshooting the McAfee Stinger online installer. These steps will need to be taken from a network that hasn't been previously used to manually download stinger32.exe from McAfee. By network, I mean your internal network with the same public facing IP address.
1. Download McAfee Stinger Portable.
2. Run the installer and ensure you get a 404 or similar error when trying to install (desktop or other temporary location is fine). Getting an error means you haven't downloaded from this network before, which is a good thing. Note that if it works, you're not eligible to test this.
3. After confirming that it doesn't work, visit the license page, wait for it to load, then close the page/tab. Do not click the download button at the bottom of the license page.
4. After closing, run the McAfee Stinger Portable installer again and see if it properly installs.
5. Report your findings here.

I tried and do not get error any more so guess can not tesst

I still get an error when PortableApps updater attempts to update McAfee Stinger. This is what happened:
1. On January 20th or so, I checked for updates with PortableApps launcher 12.0 Beta 2 updater. I learned that McAfee Stinger, uTorrent and another app I don't recall were ready to update.
2. I started the process, but only the third app updated. McAfee and uTorrent reported "network errors" or ssomething like that.
3. Since then, I tried 3 or 4 timesn, to no avail.
4. Finally today, I was able to update uTorrent. As for McAffe I got this message:
"The downloaded copy of McAfee Stinger Portable is not valid and cannot be installed. This could be due to an incomplete download or other network issue. Please try running the updater again when complete."
5. I went to my PC-installed browser (Firefox) and opened McAffe Stinger's license page. Didn't click the download link. Then closed it again.
6. Ran again the PortableApps update check, selected the only app in the list, Stinger, and got the very same issue.
That's it.

The uTorrent issue is unrelated, due to a CDN issue so it only affected platform users not direct users. It was already solved, so off topic here.
Please note that we are not testing the platform in this topic, just the above steps. I think the platform will perform similarly, but I am unsure. Could you please test the above steps as they are laid out?

Same computer on a second USB Stick using the auto updater I get the error message about can not install as not correct version, I then download it manually, it gives me license agreement and installs properly
