VirtualDub Portable can capture directly from a web cam. As long as it shows up under the devices menu, it can capture from it. I'd suggest downloading the codec plugin (it's on the same page).
CamStudio is a screen recording software and can't capture from a webcam.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Click File - Capture Avi... It'll then switch to capture mode. You should see your webcam under the Devices menu. If not, it may not have properly loaded the driver within Windows.

Many thanks for the linkg.
Yes, I had tried that already, but I hadn't found the cam option.
Are you sure it can make videos with the webcam?
Many thanks again.

Thank you very much, John,
I just installed those codecs, VirtualDub I already have.
But - I had looked before - I cannot find the option to use the webcam. Do you have any idea?
Many thanks again.
