Iron Browser User Agent String

Hello,
According to SRWare's forum post:

http://www.srware.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=662

The way to control Iron's User Agent is by using UA.ini file.

Yet, I created this file and put it anywhere on my Portable App folder:
1. IronPortable\App\Iron\
2. IronPortable\
3. IronPortable\Data
4. IronPortable\Data\settings

And even more and never could make it work.
Do you have any idea how to do it?

Thank You.

Probably no longer supported

That post you link to is from 2008/9, so a lot has changed in Chromium/Chrome/Iron since then and I would assume it is no longer supported since you can now do it from within the browser.

  1. Open Settings->Tools->Javascript Console
  2. Click on the Show Drawer icon in the top right of the developers console (looks like an arrow pointing to three horizontal lines)
  3. Click on the Emulation tab
  4. Click on the Network entry on the left
  5. Enter your User Agent String under "spoof user agent"
  6. Visit whatsmyuseragent.com

Ignore that, those changes are not permanent.

Instead try the solution in the first comment on this page. The page is at least from within the last two years, so is more likely to work, plus it is a change specific to the PortableApps version.

Thank You

Could you describe where exactly I put this command in the Portable Apps version?

Thank You.

Go into the
  1. Go into the IronPortable\Other\Source folder
  2. Make a copy of AppNamePortable.ini, name it IronPortable.ini, then move it to the IronPortable\ folder (so it is at the same level as IronPortable.exe)
  3. Open IronPortable.ini in your favourite text editor, look for the second line where it says "AdditionalParamaters=" and paste the code from my link above at the end of the line, so you should end up with AdditionalParameters=--user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0" for example

Haven't tested it myself, but hopefully it works.

64 Bit Version

Hello,
Any chance for 64 Bit version?

Moreover,
Could you make the option to run it side by side with Chrome on (The Single App parameter).

Thank You.
