Has anyone had this problem? My clean, uptodate install of Opera Portable will not run on my computer at work. No matter what flash drive I use, even if I install it to my desktop. It will not open at all, shows no signs of activity, nothing shows in processes. This applies to Opera 12.x and the newest version of Opera 25.x. Iron Portable, Qupzilla Portable, Seamonkey Portable, all run on the same computer, but not Opera. Windows 7, Dell Optiplex 9020.
I think the key phrase here may be "at work".
Your workplace may potentially be blocking the Opera executable from running, but have not thought to block the others. I would have assumed Iron would fail also since it runs from a process called chrome.exe, but this is all just taking a slightly educated guess, so maybe they are allowing Chrome but not Opera?
It's possible, but our tech guy is understaffed and overworked, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would single out one browser to block. But, it's possible. I've never gotten any kind of pop-up message of any sort. It just stopped opening one day.
You likely wouldn't get a message if the executable was blocked, it just wouldn't work.
However you didn't say it had worked previously, so have you tried a fresh install of Opera Portable (not an update to an existing copy, but install it to an entirely different folder)?
I tried an entirely new install on a different drive. I also tried installing it right on the desktop. Any other app I try runs fine. I use Texter all the time, Iron, Seamonkey, Lightscreen. Only Opera doesn't run.
