[Fixed] Some strings in Base's Java functions not in proper language in LibreOffice Portable 4.4.0 Normal language pack

Hi,

I'm using LibreOffice 4.4.0 now and found several bugs in the packaged version. I didn't check how the packaged version was packaged.

I'm using the German version. It was updated from 4.3.4 to 4.4.0.
Same bugs occured there.

>1st: unable to change language
steps to retry:
Open LibreOffice Portable=>Extras=>Options=>Language Settings=>Languages=>User interface: German to English=>OK
There is a window that tells me to restart LibreOffice. If I close LibreOffice Portable and restart it, the language is still German.
(was set wrong in PortableApps Launcher)

>2nd:
I created a new database in LibreOffice Base, opened Tables in the navigation on the left and clicked on "Create a Table in Design View". The title bar contains Chinese or Japanese chars now.

Platform Language

Whatever language you have the PA.c Platform in, LibreOffice Portable automatically matches it. Unless you turn that feature off in the platform. When run directly, you can change it as you wish internally. I just changed my copy from English to German and back again (restarting after each change) without issue.

As for the Base issue, I'm unsure. I see the same behavior here. No changes are made to our bits at all from 4.3 to 4.4, so something else in LibreOffice changed. It should say "Table Design" at the end there.

Thanks for the answer. I

Thanks for the answer.

I never noticed the option in the launcher. And sorry that I didn't mentioned the launcher.

And first I thought that I downloaded an infected version.

Packaging Issue with "Normal" language package

I've determined that the issue only occurs in the LibreOffice Portable Normal package with the top 10 languagues, not in the All package with all supported languages. I've also determined that it is not due to compression (UPX via the PA.c AppCompactor). I'm working to figure out which specific files it needs for Base to work properly with Java. It appears it is only the Java-supported sections that are affected, which is why it only shows up here and likely why others haven't caught it (most users never use the Java-based functionality of LibreOffice like much of Base).

I've updated the title of this bug to reflect the issue and to be trackable.

Base App Bug

I've confirmed this is a bug with LibreOffice itself when installed with specific combinations of languages. I'm investigating further and compiling a bug report to the LibreOffice team.

UPDATE: Figured out a workaround for the portable installer to handle it for now. It's included in the 4.4.1 release which will be posted in the next day or two. Will be posting a bug report to LibreOffice team shortly.

Fixed in 4.4.1

This is fixed in LibreOffice Portable 4.4.1 by using the Zulu language workaround. It is still broken in LibreOffice standard local installs.

Sorry to tell you that the problem is not fully fixed. Now the text is English instead of this asian thing. Program's language is still German. But this ok for me.

Java (non portable) 1.8.31 is installed. Currently updating to lastest version. Will recheck again.

Base App Bug

It's a bug in the base app. It used to be hard-coded English. Now it's the last language available alphabetically (which is why it was Traditional Chinese in the "Standard" language pack). We added Zulu in so that it will appear English, since those strings are just English in the Zulu translation and the Z ensures it will be the last language alphabetically.

You can't set that to German in the local or portable version due to an error in LibreOffice itself unless you only install German and manually uncheck all other languages when installing. My local copy of LibreOffice has it appearing in Chinese. Unsure when it will be fixed. You'll need to contact the publisher about that.
