CCleaner

Everyone knows about ccleaner, and I'm surprised that it's not packaged as a portable app yet.... (or did I somehow not see it?)

Anyway, the download link: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

More info: shareware, but there is a free version that has limited features, as well as two license versions (professional and plus)

Please make it into a portable app; that would be soo awsome!! Smile

I did search, by the way

I did search for cleaner, but all the results were HOPELESSLY outdated (like 2010 or 2008) and I was wondering if there are any ccleaner versions that are more recent?
I mean, ccleaner launches new updates like once a month, and I'm pretty sure there would be monumental differences between a version that was released in 2010 and a version that was released in 2015 or 2016....

Not Permitted

CCleaner as well as other Piriform apps (Recuva, Speccy, Defraggler) all have a license that prohibits repackaging and redistribution. Any portable software site distributing a portable version is doing so illegally.

I've been in touch with the Piriform folks for about 7 years now and they're still not keen on us bundling it yet. And, unlike other sites, we won't do so illegally. I confirmed with Piriform just this week that the other sites are still doing it without permission as they do with most of their apps.

Online Installer

Not even as an online installer release?

No, Not Allowed

Piriform will not even permit the CCleaner name to be used with an online installer or system that automatically downloads and installs/updates it. Piriform cease and desisted Ninite for doing that previously. Ninite wasn't redistributing or anything like that. So, any portable software site that either bundles CCleaner is doing so illegally. Any portable site that has their software automatically downloading the portable version and keep it up to date is using the trademarks without authorization.

oh and another question

Will you keep wise disk cleaner up to date?
(I hope you do, because it's the only cleaner program that is packaged as a portable app in the PA format)

Bleachbit

Have you checked Bleachbit? You can set it to download the winapp2 ini that ccleaner uses. (Not the default one, but the one ccleaner enhancer adds)

Reason Behind Question?

You ask "Will you keep wise disk cleaner up to date?" I'm curious why people ask questions like this. I've been maintaining the Wise utilities since 2012 after approaching the publisher myself. I've been updating them consistently with each new version. So, why would I magically just stop? Why does this question even need to be asked?

Well,

That question was just asked in concern of the matter that there is only one portable cleaner app.....
If that (wise disk cleaner) is dropped, then, well, you know......
Sorry for asking such a stupid question.....

I dont think so...

Well one of perks of having their professional version is having automatic updates. If we relied on portableapps devs to push these updates in one way or another its almost as if were receiving automatic updates through the launcher and defeating the auto updating feature of their pro version. And I dont think the devs would like that, although the pro version has more to offer than auto updates, it's just one of the many perks.
