Getting it to work on restricted network

I am a student and I 'm trying to use firefox portable at my school, but I don't think I'd get permission to do so. I've used the application to get the port and network name however it still doesn't run when I type in the port (8080) and the network name in Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Configuration(ish). Anybody help.
