Firefox 52 has dropped support for for NPAPI plugins like Java, Silverlight, etc. Flash is still supported. Users in need of those features can use Firefox Portable ESR 45.x.

Firefox 52 will be the last version with support for Windows XP and Vista, following Chrome and Opera. Firefox 52 also will be the last version to support old style XUL extensions. We will be transitioning Firefox 52 to our ESR channel following our standard schedule: https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#esr

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thank you, John.

Firefox 52 stil supports XP and Firefox 52 ESR will continue to support XP plugins until, from what I read, its 7th release, around 52.6 - 52.7. So, I'm kinda waiting for you to release 52 ESR Smile

Thank you, John. Didn't notice this page, as I usually go with the main release. But I need my plugins this time round as long as it lasts, hence my move to ESR.

Here's a quickie from https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#esr

As an example, when Firefox 52 is released, the leading edge of Firefox ESR will be bumped to 52 as well while the trailing edge will be updated to 45.7.0. At this point, Firefox Portable ESR would stay with the trailing edge version and be 45.7.0 to ensure that Firefox Portable stable and Firefox Portable ESR are different. When Firefox 53 is released, Firefox Portable stable will match it and Firefox Portable ESR will be bumped up to 52.1.0.

Yes, I am also waiting for the 52 ESR version. I think that with the breaking changes that 52 and 53 bring, quite some people could jump to the ESR bandwagon.

AFAIK you can still set the about:config switch

plugin.load_flash_only

and set it to False. That switch will be removed in ver 53.

after extracting to non-system drive, running and then further exiting this product - it hiddenly and permanently (not to the RecycleBin) deleted all our working profiles of the "regular" Firefox (including all those sessions, tabs, bookmarks, history and logins-passwords) which were kept in their regular locations: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\* and also in C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\* . Trying to recover those folders and files via specialized software didn't help as they perhaps have been re-written.
How can that be possible? Please help to get my profiles back!

There have been no changes to the launcher in terms of portablization or interacting with local folders within the last 2 years. Firefox Portable never alters or moves the local profile in any way. It uses a documented command line switch of firefox.exe to point it to your portable profile and has since its original release before Firefox Portable 1.0. It has no code within the launcher to remove those paths if there are any files within them (the source is available within FirefoxPortable\Other\Source\FirefoxPortableU.nsi). Note that if you manually set a junction on the directories you mention to another location, the junction will be removed due to a bug in the Windows API that reports junctions as empty directories. The files underlying the junction will not change and the junction can be recreated.

If you are seeing any other behavior, please report it in the Firefox Portable support forum along with complete details (OS version, 32 vs 64-bit, Firefox Portable install location, new vs upgrade, etc).
