After a quick check (I didn't do any video editing), it appears clean. Thanks for packaging this!
I'll give it a try, when I have the next editing job. Thanks for packaging!

Thank you for working on this app, but I would like to ask if it is 32-bit or 64-bit version?
I'm asking, because developer wrote on his site:
The 32-bit Windows version is back by popular demand! 32-bit apps still have the significant limitation that they can only use 2 GB RAM, and Shotcut still uses a lot of RAM. We will see what we can do to reduce memory usage in the coming months. In the meantime, consider limiting yourself to working in 720 pixels of vertical resolution for multitrack projects, and try to avoid using very high resolution still images (scale them down before using them in Shotcut).
At the moment, this portable app is released as a 32-bit app.
With that said, and with an awareness that the current app takes up approximately 300MB, it may be possible to make this a dual-mode app if required.
mwayne, if you need any help with that, let me know.
Thank you for the explanation.
It would be nice to have 64-bit version as it allows editing files with higher resolution. App size is not a big problem for me.
I'll try to make this as a dual-mode app. It shouldn't be too hard. But the size will be more than doubled, at least 1 GB.
Add x64 binaries
Thank you.

Thank you so much, I've been trying to setup a media USB for my pupils so they can edit video/audio/images and composite DVDs. The only thing missing was an NLE. I hope this project gets traction and recognition. Cheers again from myself and the dozens of pupils it will benefit

Note that I have not tested the validity of this yet.
According to the Shotcut download page, Shotcut runs on Win7+, so launcher.ini needs to have MinOS=7 listed under [Launch] section if that is the case.
If you're not already aware, there is an update for the base app: 17.09 (files named with 170904 so I believe the whole version number is 17.09.04)
mwayne, make note of the -noupgrade option that's been implemented - I suspect you'll find it useful.

I was looking through my registry, and discovered that Shortcut is using Qt, specifically QtProject>OrganizationDefaults>FileDialog
@mwayne: I've included a quick fix for this in my pull request, as well as a couple other changes. (Patch 1 by yoyokenny)
Thank you for some update.

the download link says 17.01.02.
That's been corrected on his behalf.
[EDIT] @mwayne: sorry, saw that you were online after the fact.

The above-noted RegistryKey includes a subkey created when opening a file.
Neither the subkey nor the parent key are currently removed upon closing the app.
I have submitted a PR fixing the issue.
I can't reproduce your behavior. Everything is cleaned up when Shotcut is closed.
Weird - I was able to replicate it consistently on my system, but on re-checking on both my system and my VM test following your message, I couldn't replicate it again either.
With that said, in the event Shotcut ends up saving anything to the registry key, the PR handles saving that data.
mwayne, version 18.03.06 is now available for download.

Awesome, thanks for the update! By the looks of the commit log for Shotcut, there's likely going to be another update released soon. Lots of bugs fixed!
Where is this on our radar for release? Any show stoppers?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
John,
There are many amazing tools by mwayne which are in release level (mwayne supports them for long time with timely updates).

As mentioned before, please strop trying to hijack unrelated threads to request niche apps you are interested in.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
No show stoppers that I've found.
I will note that the app's splash screen is baked-in, so we won't be able to add a portable tag to it.
Release 18.07.02 has been released by the publisher.
Note that the version number corresponds to the date of release, not the 2nd release in the 18.07 line as you might expect.
This is an excellent candidate for release, and is on a monthly release schedule, unless a major bug is found following release.

I really appreciate your hardwork for all these years! Thank you very much!
btw, when it will be ready for official release?
mwayne, version 18.08.01 has been released by the publisher today.

Thanks for keeping this up to date. Shotcut is really maturing with every version (ripple useful but now). Would be great to see this becoming official as there's no comparable video editor in the app directory so far.
Agreed, Dan and Brian (shotcut's developers) are doing some awesome work, and are responsive to feedback.

I'm on my work system currently, so I can't do in-depth testing at the moment - and won't be able to test in depth until next week.
However, upon updating to 19.02.28. Shotcut Portable exits prior to launching shotcut.exe
I replaced the contents of App/Shotcut and App/Shotcut64 with the appropriate files from the publisher, and launched successfully.
My first guess, without testing, is a compression problem.
That, or possibly the contents of App/Shotcut64 aren't the 64-bit versions by mistake.
I just tested both versions and I have no issue. Have you tried downloading it again?
After downloading a clean copy, and installing in a clean location, i'm having no issues.
Perhaps there was some issue with doing an upgrade rather than clean on my system?
Either way, it's working for me currently from a fresh install.
Thanks for keeping this up-to-date, Mike!
