Setup: Win10x64, Microsoft Lync (aka Skype for Business) and Office 365 installed
Has anyone else seen this? I got an update notice while running sPortable that I believe just installed regular Skype. I uninstalled regular skype and the prompt returned.

Free Download Manager https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/free-download-manager-portable does something similar.

Note that, although the subjects are similar, this is a distinct issue from the "Skype upgrade to sPortable doesn't work" thread: https://portableapps.com/node/56020
It seems that Skype pushed out a semi-stealth update that I'd missed. They were pushing out 7.40.0.104 to existing users while the main download from the site was still serving up 7.40.0.103 for the installer download for some reason. I've updated sPortable to match and confirmed and hashed the actual 7.40.0.104 download from the publisher that it downloads.
Skype is set to automatically update by default. You can turn it off within Tools - Options - Advanced - Automatic updates - Turn off automatic updates. This will require admin rights and will affect all users on a given PC. There is no way to disable automatic updates on a per-user or non-admin basis within Skype by design of the publisher.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Great stuff, thanks. Just updated and re-tested -- situation resolved.

Just a note that this may not be resolved in the latest release: I've got v. 7.40.0.104 and I'm again seeing the upgrade prompt. Seems to pop up after a reboot but not at every launch.
