Cross platform firefox and extensions

I use Cross Platform Firefox (CPFF) since I use Mac OSX 10.4 and WinXP Home.
I copied my profile from the PC.
When I open CPFF on the Mac, all my (15) extensions appear. When I open CPFF on XPH, only a handful appear (6) and some of them say "...will be upgraded when Firefox is restarted". I've shut down the fly drive, plugged it back into the Mac and when I return to XPH the same issue exists. All my bookmarks are present, it is just the extensions that are problematic.
What am I doing wrong?
One other question, is Portable Firefox the same as Cross Platform Firefox?

Some extensions

store stuff on your harddrive so they aren't portable (for ex. Footiefox).
Do you have a link of Cross Platform Firefox?
Or is it the one from Theplaceforitall?

I am not sure what you mean

I am not sure what you mean (I am relatively new here)

store stuff on your harddrive so they aren't portable (for ex. Footiefox).

What is Footiefox? Are you saying I should leave extensions on the harddrive? How would I do that?

Do you have a link of Cross Platform Firefox?
I installed Portable Firefox (originally) and then Cross Platform Firefox fom http://www.theplaceforitall.com/portablefirefox/ (then upgraded the Mac side to 2.0). The Mac side works find.

Portable means

that everything is stored on your USB-drive so you can plug it in wherever you want and its all there, ready to use.
Some of Firefox`s extensions are not portable. That means they store data on the Computer you use right now. The data remains there (on the first PC)and if you go to another Computer the data wont be there because its left on the first one.
This isn't good for several reasons:
1. Some settings could be left on the first PC and interfere with the installed copy of firefox (if there is one there)
2. Some data of your extension may be not available on the 2. PC
3. You leave traces (data) you might not want to leave.

I dont know if this makes sense to you; if it doest, just ask again.

Here is what I am doing,

Here is what I am doing,
I deleted everything and started over.
I installed Portable Firefox (PFF)
I copied the PC's profile to PFF's profile folder
I ran PFF and it works (yipee!)
I am installing CrossPlatform Firefox
I am copying the profile to CPFF's profile folder. Here is my plan (tell me if this is wrong). I want to see if the Mac can run with the profile. If so, I will change PFF's settings.ini so that it points to the profile that is in CPSS's folder. This way (hopefully) I will only have one profile. After each portable app runs, it will update the profile and the next time I go to the other machine, everything will be up to date (hopefully). I am not sure if this will work, since I am not sure if the Mac and the PC share the same profile folder. Do they?
In any event, I appreciate your help.
As to extensions not being portable, when I ran PFF, all my extensions seemed to work.
To be continued... (thanks!)

If I understood everything

correctly, it should work.
The point of CPFF is that you use the same profile-directory, whether you use the "Win-Firefox" or the "Mac-Firefox".
The problem with CPFF is that its an old version and cant be updated. And I dont know whether you can just replace the /App folder of your CPFF with the /App folder of your PFF.

If it works I would stop experimenting and enjoying my firefox.

Thanks for all your help,

Thanks for all your help, everything works perfectly.
As to CPFF, you can manully update (https://portableapps.com/node/5019) to ver 2.0.
It got a little confusing with all the different profile folders, but (taking your advice) it works and I am done experimenting.
BTW, all extensions work!
Thanks again!

for pointing me to the 2.0-update.
