Description: This is the freeware counterpart of Matlab by Mathworks. Most of the commands in Scilab are similar to those in Matlab, the only downside I've encountered so far is Scilab has lower stack memory. But what the heck, it's free! Its the thing we use in our Digital Signal Processing and Image Processing Courses, and it works fine. It would be great to have it in the portableapps.com format.

Others: I've tried coping the installation files to my flash drive and it worked. But when I'm finished using it and try to safely remove my flash drive, there's an error message saying that it cannot be removed at that moment. I can't think of any reason for that, i think it's due to running Scilab from my drive.

I tried installing scilab to my usb with portable apps options. It will not list the scilab executable in the apps menu just the uninstaller. Plus it would not run from another computer it gave an error message saying scilab may become unstable.
I would suggest GNU Octave instead, as a Matlab Replacement, because it has higher (almost complete) Matlab compatibility:

Note that many do not consider SciLab free/open source, as the license restricts commercial distribution and use.
What the problem with the license of SciLab?
If I understand correctly you can distribute it legally like gnu.
1. You are replying to a 5 year old comment, so what you are responding to is outdated.
2. Scilab originally was licensed under the Scilab licence (which some considered a non-free licence due to certain restrictions) but has since been re-licensed under CeCILL.
so now it can legally done as portable in portableapps.com?
I haven't read the CeCILL licence, but it is GPL complaint so I would assume it can.
I wonder why after 11 years and yet still no development?
Since version 6.0.0, Scilab is released under the terms of GNU General Public License (GPL) v2.0
I would be very happy if somebody want to develop in portableapps format for both

The development version of GNU Octave is still ongoing

But unfortunately, there is no simulink-like built in with Octave.
There exist workaround though, but you need also to run Scilab backgroundly in the end
