USB port tester

Hello,

I searched the forum with the words of my subject but coudn't find anything.

My question: is there a tool that could test if the USB port I'm using is 2.0 or 1.1?

If yes, is it a portable tool, so I could use it directly from my stick.

Thanks

If you have a 2.0 stick,

If you have a 2.0 stick, copy a large file (10+ MB) from one directory to another and note the speed. If it finishes in seconds, it's 2.0, if it takes a minute or two, 1.1.

Vintage!

USB Port 1 or 2

Right click on My Computer.
Select Properties
Select Hardware devices
Select Device Manager
At the bottom click the + on Universal Serial Bus controllers
Look for Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller or something like it.
The work Enhanced indicates it is USB 2.0 if you do not have the word Enhanced it is USB 1.0

Hope this helps

Also...

...the W!nd0w$ versions 2000 and up will say in a little speach bubble "your device can preform faster if pluged into a USB 2.0 port,........." so the PC really just tells you when you insert it into the computer.
