Thunderbird

Not sure if this is the right forum or not but Thunderbird 68 has been out for awhile. It's now up to 68.4.1

When will this be updated?

Thanks

Outdated Apps Thread

You can report outdated apps and watch their progress in the outdated apps thread here: https://portableapps.com/development/outdated

Under "External Dependencies" you'll see: Mozilla Thunderbird 68.x [Awaiting Bug 60496 fix]

Thunderbird 68+ trash is not actually deleted

John,

On Mozilla support, there is apparently some awareness of a failure to permanently delete emails, but the solutions didn’t correct it. The symptom is readily detected by permanently deleting emails and noticing that the number of files in folder "ThunderbirdPortable" continually grows.

The results are the same for 68.4, 68.5 and 68.6. This was not a problem with version 60.9.1.

I use the PortableApps version of Thunderbird in a folder under Documents on a Windows 10 PC (more convenient for backup). The browser is Chrome for online access to gmail. The contents of trash in PortableApps version of Thunderbird agree with the trash folder for gmail via Chrome browser. As noted the emails (files) are not being deleted in Thunderbird.

For some reason the developers of Thunderbird decided to override the setting "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them," and this is a great inconvenience for this problem of not actually deleting emails.

I noticed you are working on both Thunderbird and Firefox at: https://portableapps.com/node/60496#comment-242920

Thank you for all you great work
