Thunderbird 68, 32 & 64 bit now available at Mozilla. Doesn't work as an upgrade though although 68.1 will.
Don't have a clue what that has to do with portable conversion.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
As of today, Thunderbird 60.9.0 64 bit (not portable) can be upgraded to Thunderbird 68.1.0.
Many times, I update the software on my own and wait for PortableApps to catch up ... you have a life too
My issue right now is that I'm not seeing a portable or zip file to "update" the copy on my portable HDD to 68.2.0.
Never mind. I just found "Mozilla Thunderbird 68.2.0 [Awaiting Bug 60496 fix]"
Thank you
When will Thunderbird 68.x be available?
Check the thread that John linked above, Thunderbird is listed there with the reason why it has not yet been released.
Hi There...Cant find any reason ! only this: Mozilla Thunderbird 68.9.0 (John building...) what is the reason? will it update? thx Your answer
Hi,
Just download the Thunderbird Setup 68.8.1.exe from the official site and then:
1. extract the data from it (I'm using "Universal Extractor 1.6)
2. copy the content of ...\Thunderbird Setup 68.8.1\core
3. paste it in ...\ThunderbirdPortable\App\Thunderbird (replace all existing files)
4. enjoy latest 68.8.1 version
Cheers.
No one says a word about John building ...
User is not sure if the portable comes out or not.
Does Universal Extractor 1.6, once ported, leave traces in the system?
When (roughly estimated) will the portable version of 69.x ... allow upgrades to v.78.x +?
Tomts:

Will the Thunderbird dual mode app make Mozilla or Poprtableapps.com just for the portable version?
Is there any idea about the date?
Mozilla has v.78 beta (not portable, integrated PGP encryption for the first time - yes).
When (roughly estimated) will the portable version of 69.x allow upgrades to v.78.x +?
Thank You, Tomts form Prague.

Dual Mode
Thunderbird will transition to a dual mode app with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, just like Firefox Portable is, for maximum compatibility, functionality, and performance.

Thunderbird 78 will no longer to support the APIs that Enigmail requires and only allow new "WebExtensions"
Hi, I have been using Thunderbird portable 32-bit from Portableapps.com (now version 68.6.0) for many years.
In summer 2020 (64-bit) version 78 - PGP ENCRYPTION will be natively added.
Will you publish a portable 7x (64 bit) W10 version ?

I am aware of the upcoming transition in Thunderbird to baked-in OpenGPG. Thunderbird Portable 68.x has been delayed by Bug 60496 which causes extensions and calendars to break as you move. I'm working on the launcher updated to address this now. It was delayed due to Covid-19 and some health/family issues as discussed in the thread. It will be done as soon as possible. Part of this update will be switching Thunderbird Portable to dual mode (32+64-bit) just like Firefox Portable. This will allow Thunderbird Portable 78 and onward to use the built-in PGP encryption when running on a 64-bit machine. 32-bit users will be unable to use PGP. We will not be upgrading Thunderbird Portable to the 78.x branch until 78.2 as that is when PGP is expected to be stable enough to switch to at least from guidance I've read.

Thank You Very Much !!! waiting for the app...
Now my 32 bit portable version is frequently updated from the Mozilla Thunderbird "release update channel" and I have a million emails in about 15 years in hundreds of folders.
Upgrading from current 32 bit v.68.10+ .... to 32/64 bit Thunderbird portable v.78.2+ ..... will take the form of a 1x reinstallation over the original current 32 bit portable installation (68.10+) or will a special upgrade program be used?
Then, I assume the following v.78+ updates will continue through the Mozilla Thunderbird "release update channel" - as default - or ???
For some background, the release of Thunderbird Portable 68 and above was delayed by this bug: https://portableapps.com/node/60496
And then by Covid-19 and some other issues going on. I'm working on the launcher still.

Not even the beta version to use with the old profile ??
alon,
leaves traces or not?
I'm not sure what traces are you talking about...
Advances in the new version? Deadline, etc.
Please test Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition 68.10.0 Dev Test 1 and report your findings there.

Thank you so much John! It is working beautifully!
