Good morning All,
Windows 10, 64 bit, build 19041 (work computer - no admin access)
Stickies Portable 10.1a
C:\Users\User\Documents\PortableApps\StickiesPortable
Restarting computer did not change anything.
Just updated to PA 20.0 and now StickiesPortable is stating that there is another instance of Stickies running. Checked Task Manager and there is no instance of Stickies.exe or StickiesPortable.exe. Also started Stickies from the base Stickies.exe in the ...\App\stickies\ folder with no error. Error message only appears when using StickiesPortable.exe via PA menu or double clicking directly.
This appears to be related to the platform update as I've been using Stickies from the PortableApps menu for over 8 years with zero previous problems - even when it converted everything to the newer format.
Is there a lock file or other setting somewhere that would cause this error?
I desperately need Stickies! I use it all day every day for work.
Thank you,
AZ Lynx

Hello AC R,
I tried the other executable to see if the issue was there instead of with the StickiesPortable.exe. Since I don't know how the commands flow from the PA executable, I tried the base application.
When I checked the Task Manager, I checked for both executables. Neither was running at the time.
Thank you,

The launcher will say it's already running if Windows is saying that it is. Is there any other user on your system that could have stickies auto starting? That would mean it's running but won't show up in your task manager.

John,
There are no other users on this computer other than the built in ones (Admin, etc.). Stickies is not set to autostart on the computer. I used the excellent "Start Automatically" option that you placed within the platform. Error shows when the platform starts and tries to start StickiesPortable or when manually trying to start StickiesPortable by clicking - even after a fresh reboot.
Thank you.

Please disable Stickies Portable's auto start in the platform. Close the platform and all apps and reboot. Now, download a fresh copy of Stickies Portable directly from the site. Install it right to your Desktop directory temporarily. Run StickiesPortable.exe within there. Does that work as expected? If so, close Stickies within the system tray. Next, open the PA.c Platform. Right-click on Stickies Portable and select Explore Here. Run StickiesPortable.exe there. Does that work?

Hello John,
Apparently the issue is because it was in auto start. I turned this off and StickiesPortable is now working. Also realized that apparently it had not updated to the latest version. I saw the solution to that in the forum, so am now running the latest.
Thanks for all the great work you are doing!
Best,

Does start automatically still cause the issue with the latest platform and app? I tested it and it is working properly here.
You're welcome!

John,
I turned the autostart option back on for StickesPortable and it's working fine.
Thanks again.
