Problems with install Java support for LO Base

You can get an offline install file here: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Remember that the bit-ness of the installer file you download must match the bit-ness of the LibreOffice you will be using.

Don't know of any archives for Oracle Java — only know how to get an .exe file.

However, if you are really desperate for an archive download — in effect not wanting to be involved in using an .exe file to download or install the Java — then I would recommend giving the confusingly named 'Eclipse Temurin' implementation of OpenJDK a try — I use this myself for my fully installed LibreOffice 64-bit installation and also for my LibreOfficePortable 32-bit installation, in both instances it works just fine. Very Important Note: At that download page do use the drop-down menus/filters to select the specific download you want. The list defaults to offering a download for JDK but chances are you don't want that and just need the JRE, which is what I use. You need to use the list filters to get to JRE downloads. For now I would recommend just downloading version 17, which is the current Long Term Support (LTS) version, this is what I use, and I think 18 and 19 might still be somewhat experimental, but I'm not sure on that. In any case using the LTS seems to me to be the sensible choice.

Once you have the zip file for Temurin downloaded just unpack it and then point your LibreOffice to the (now) unpacked folder. In this way you get an implementation of Java without involving yourself with installer .exe files.

Of course these two involve you with .exe files, which you might not want. That said it is good to read the notes for the PortableApps offerings as there are guides there on how to get portable programs other than LibreOffice to work with a portable implementation of Java.

1. At home, install the Platform (inside a new folder) & download the portable version(s)¹ of Java® using the online installer.
2. At work, move your "LibreOffice" folder inside the "Portableapps" folder (that contains all the portable: apps, addons, fonts, etc.) and run your LibreOffice.

¹ LibreOffice portable only needs the 32 bit version.
