why is the link removed?

You got into trouble by mentioning the link to SyMenu?
What are the problems? Why do you estimate that SyMenu is hosting illegal software?
The program I supposed is nore illegal in the US nore in the EU.
Nore is it to post the URLs.
I don't get it.

Illegal Software Packages

SyMenu includes illegally packaged software linked on their site and in their platform. Even the package of Google Chrome they do is illegally packaged (Chrome is repackaged within, which violates its license) and packaged by the folks that illegally package cracked versions of Photoshop, etc.

give me proof of

give me proof of what you just said: you reference googlechrome - one of the most hated by you software ever?
Yo, I know about Chromium scanning hardware-IDs...
And Photoshop??? What are you talking about? Have you ever in the last years met SyMenu?
It has the same copyright issues that has your platform. - The best and actual portable cracked software by Adobe runs on your platform.
That is the hackers way and is performed perfectly.

See Their Site

Our package of Google Chrome Portable is an online installer which downloads the Chrome installer directly from Google as part of the install. SyMenu has an illegally packaged Google Chrome x64 only in their directory that has the Chrome files included, which is not permitted. The publisher of that package is AppNee, a warez/cracked software site that illegally packages lots of software. They're linked to directly from SyMenu's site as the official publisher.

PortableApps.com does not package, promote, or link to illegal software packages. While our software and utilities are open source, meaning others can use them, we do not permit illegally packaging software with those utilities. Nonetheless, some third parties will use our tools to illegally package other apps.

oki doki

I may now point out the differences between your platform and SyMenu.
SyMenu is a more OpenSource platform, introducing the freedom of everyone to add portable software and to maintain it.
With all its security/privacy issues, but you have the choice. Therefore it has a much bigger choice of software, because
it doesn't have to run a qualification process. What qualifies SyMenu is that it has nearly no commercial issues.
On the other hand: PortableApps.com:
You get managed by a trusted team. You are quite sure to get no malware (exceptions done) and a far better installer.
You get support and you are in the worlds biggest portable software platform. You are in a save haven.
Cause people have to do a living, PortableApps is commercial and has to do some income which makes them not completely free.

Just my sight.
Greetings

Differences

SyMenu is a closed source (aka proprietary license freeware) setup including their menu and its portablization abilities. The PA.c Platform is fully open source under the GPL as are our tools to portablize and package apps. The PA.c Launcher which portablizes software without requiring code is free and open source and not tied to our platform/menu. The apps listed in our app directory can be used in a fully portable format by downloading them alone and without needing to use our platform.

SyMenu is currently distributing an illegally packaged version of Google Chrome. They link directly to the publisher of this package, AppNee, which also illegally packages cracked versions of PhotoShop and other software. As such, links to SyMenu's publisher are not permitted according to our forum guidelines. SyMenu makes revenue via donations.

PortableApps.com is open source and free. It's supported by donations and some ad revenue on the website.

Okay, many thanks to replying to this post.

About legal concerns via SyMenu I can only state that they are trying to not have any legal issues around this world, US and EU especially.
Note to keep in mind, that it is a completely different plattform, I posted in another thread.
Now, that you have first posted the one and only? software that has some issues might get me thinking of your behavior.
You seem to get me wrong. I don't want to harm anyone. It is not about comparison, I also stated before, that I like the style of virtualization your way, but it is not the only one and not the perfect one and I am trying to improve.
Example: Driver Virtualization.
I have done this for years now to have a portable RamDrive.
ie based on ImDisk.
Driver Virtualization was long time ago meant to be impossible... well done that.
Edit: Typos

Example

I used that as an example, considering it would likely be one of the most popular apps. SyMenu also includes apps illegally packaged by PortApps like Skype. This isn't a new or unique thing for SyMenu.

Oki, i feel sorry for that

but i can understand this behavior.
But I really can't understand your legal issues.
Maybe it's the cause I am living in the EU.
We have some different rights to publish and some which we don't have.
This is now getting something really wired.

Greetings and Stop!

Sites That Promote Illegal Software

We don't permit links to sites that package and/or promote illegal software. The site you linked does this so the link was removed. It's not about the EU or the US, it's about the way this site operates. We don't want to promote or link to illegal software packagers.

And I am responding in german:

  1. Bitte halte Dich an die Forenregeln.
Damit erreichst Du so ziemlich gar nichts.

So - please take a step down and try again, if you are interested in a solution. Or leave it be, when there is no space for your wishes.

OK.

I switch back to english for all the other readers. Wink
I understand your intention, but at least your last post (the one you deleted) was kind of rude, hence the reference to the forum guidelines. I am no mod here, so I'm not the one to take action (not needed anyway in my opinion), but you did it before from time to time. At least you are so kind to delete or edit your posts afterwards, but maybe you better vent your anger anywhere else. Smile
No. 4 would be off topic here but better placed in the corresponding topic.

Nur mal kurz am Rande

Hast du dir schonmal Gedanken darüber gemacht warum es hier keinen Chromium Browser oder deren Derivate aka irgendwas gibt?
Das hat schon seinen Grund.

Chromium

Google Chrome, Iron, Opera, and Opera GX are all based on Chromium.

Okay I was wrong, sorry.

I just ask myself why there is no "clean" Chromium or ungoogled Chromium portable available? Is it that hard to portabelize it and to include in your plattform?
A nice site which I hope you won't delete the link and I am contributing sometimes is https://chromium.woolyss.com
There is no .paf.exe available.
The version I prefere most is from Henry https://www.henrypp.org/product/chrlauncher
Off topic I know.

Iron, Losing Settings

Iron is kinda the original unGoogled Chromium. Adding additional Chromium based browsers would likely not be very helpful. To my knowledge, all will lose your extensions and stuff as you move PCs. So, in terms of portability, they're not terribly useful unless they sync to Google.

Oh, oh, oh...

I did not post my concerns about Iron because I thought you were already known of these security and privacy issues.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3ASRWare_Iron
Take the link just for an example. It is not only that, it goes much further...
Iron is the perfect sample of how not to do security and privacy and to claim to do.
You can take any browser and break its security flaws by forking it and that is what Iron does.
Iron even managed to get into windows browserchoice. Funfact.
The most secure portable chromium version is imho: https://iridiumbrowser.de/downloads/windows
cons: only updated about twice a year, but the way it is configured standard seems to me the most privacy/security browser portable based on Chromium.

Greetings

Edit:
Though I recommend the pure clean Chromium portable stated before.
Thanks

Edit2:
https://iridiumbrowser.de/about

Edit3 citation:

Motivation

There are many browsers out there. Chrome is fast, stable and user-friendly but does not meet many organizations’ demands for privacy. Since the tight integration with its inventor (Google) makes many things easier, it does not comply to restrictive data environments. Iridium is not another new browser from scratch. It takes the Chromium code base and enhances its security and sets certain policies by default. There are many forks of Chromium-based browsers, yet, in our opinion they failed in many other key areas important for adoption.

why not to include?

Greetings

Not Portable

As stated above, adding UnGoogled Chromium based browsers doesn't make a whole lot of sense since they can't be made portable. You can't sync to Google so when you move PCs, your passwords, extensions, etc are just wiped out. Henry++ specifically warns about this with chrlauncher.

Ok, that is the answer I was looking for and expected

Thanks for confirmation.
This is leading to some fundamantional browser issues.
Henry does this perfectly by letting you the choice. - That is what I want.
About being portable you are lost by trying to do that via Chromium. I am dealing with this problem now since years. You might not imagine how this code made me left frustraded. Lucky there is Firefox which I use actual here to post comments.

About software that can't be made portable.
This is quite funny.
I have told some resources.
I am quite sure of my capabilities of how to portabilize software.
There is a scene around this naming you as the godfather.
Namely driver virtualization. - Done - not publishing due to legal issues.
thanks

Not Drivers

It's not a driver issue. Chromium specifically locks settings based on a given PC. It's designed to wipe your settings, extensions, passwords, etc if there are any changes. If someone is doing an unGoogled Chromium fork that fixes this issue, then I'd be interested. But you're basically leaving the user out cold. They move PCs, they lose all their stuff. Their PC dies and they restore a portable unsynced Chromium backup, they lose all their stuff. In short, it's not portable. So it would be deceptive of us to call it portable.

you seem to misunderstand me

It is the core of chromium to scan the hardware to whatever it is installed to and to generate unified ID's by default.
Funfact is that this works in FreeBSD and in Linux.
The only workaround I found so far is the link I mentioned above.
I am not going any further to propose software.
This is getting now off topic.
Via Browser security this is not the place. I just wanted to place a statemend and trying to help and assist.
Another interesting forum https://nsaneforums.com might help.

Edit first:
This should have never ever gone here.
This CMS seems so miserable that I have no other chance than to post this here.
Sorry...

John, the post never ever lead to an illegal link.
State of the art.
If you don't like SyMenu, stay for it and claim it and say why you won't recommend.
Deleting my legal links in my opinion is a behavior of weakness which I really don't like.
Please stop deleting interesting links posted by users which claim to do their effort to make soft portable!
As told in another thread: The nice thing about SyMenu is freedom: and everybody can contribute and do portables as he/she wants.
You can't do this here with your platform.
Here, You or namely your team is godlike and everyone has to do or hope that you do imply a FOSS software what the user wants.
You get it how much a differnce this is? And why I was and am so pissed off?
I just do it my own way within SyMenu. - Flawlessly.
Have you ever asked yourself why there is so much more software available in SyMenu than in your Platform?
Luckily you have adopted some soft since I am nerving here around. - But you are long, long way behind if you want to compete with SyMenus software bucket.
These things had to be said and please keep in mind that i like your portables and even prefere due to easyness over SyMenu.

Thanks and Greetings...

THanks.

Asked and Anwsered

This was already asked and answered. SyMenu distributes illegally packaged software through their platform and links to the creators of those packages. I pointed out the specific packages and publishers above (Skype, Google Chrome, etc). The packagers also package cracked versions of PhotoShop and similar illegal stuff. SyMenu promotes and links to those sorts of publishers. We don't permit linking to or discussing illegal software here. It's in the forum guidelines as pointed out to you multiple times.

You're free to use all of our apps with a closed source, proprietary menu like SyMenu if you'd like. All of our tools are open source and designed to be used like that. Their app store listings are locked to their platform, of course. Though you can get portable packages from the publishers themselves and use them with our platform. Even illegal packages if you'd like, we just won't promote or link to them.

If you're happier with another tool, please feel free to use it. Just a couple words of caution regarding SyMenu. Lots of the apps are not portable and will leave things behind as you move PCs. Most aren't reviewed or checked for stuff like this because they treat a zip file as 'portable' even if all the settings are stored locally. We're also not big on shovelware and deception. Shovelware like including lots of single-use EXEs and command line tools as 'apps' to inflate your numbers. And calling the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of apps like MediaInfo as 2 apps. Or apps like 7-Zip and Notepad++ which each are listed as 4 separate apps. Meanwhile, we have apps like Puzzle Collection Portable which is 40 separate puzzles as 79 different EXEs (32bit and 64bit) with a custom frontend that is listed as a single app.

As you're gotten WAY off base of discussion requesting SIV in this topic, I'm closing it now. Please do not link to or discuss illegal software platforms or websites again.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
