PortableApps does not update some applications

For a long time, the portableapps suite do not update automatically some applications. In the beginning it was just libreoffice. I stayed at libreoffice 7.1.4 and believe I did this update manually. Now, other applications have been added to this list:
- CCleaner via ccPortable 6.04.10044
- Opera 91.0.4516.20
- Team Viewer 15.34.4
- Wise Ddata recovery 6.1.3

I have 2 PCs with Windows 7 64-bit and have the same problem on both.
How can I solve this problem?
Thank you

Renamed Folders?

Did you rename any of the folders that contain the apps? Have you checked the drive for errors?

No, never rename the destination folders. They are in the same position where they always been.
When the PC crashed and i restarted it, sometimes chkdsk started automatically

Outdated Apps

That's because a new version of Telegram was posted last night. Are you sure the apps you want updated have been updated in our database? Check their homepages on the site to see what our current version is. If it is out of date, check the Outdated Apps Thread: https://portableapps.com/development/outdated

Different Issue

This is a different issue. The platform is correctly identifying that they are out of date but is unable to download the apps. The apps in question are all hosted by either us or by The Document Foundation. It's likely your other apps are updating correctly as they are hosted on SourceForge. You could be blocked from downloading from our servers and TDF's if you're at a university or corporation. Have you fully updated Windows 7 to the last available updates including fully updating Internet Explorer?

Have you fully updated Windows 7 to the last available updates including fully updating Internet Explorer?

Is so important the update of windows 7 for the update of PortableApps suite and its softwares? In any case, i copied my suite on usb drive and i launched the its update on another pc with windows 8.1. The update is gone ok.

Digital Certificates

Without updating Windows 7, your digital certificates store will wind up out of date. You'll be unable to connect to some servers. There are also patches that correct other connectivity issue. Not to mention security issues.

Hallo.

Hallo.

I hope it is OK that I add my problem here

I have a problem with updating the apps. I start the update as recommended and very often the download seems successful, but after the end of the download the installation does not run successful.

There is short the message installing and immediately it says finished the installation. But after checking the app was not updated and is in the list of app that need an update

I don't know what the problem could be. Is the a way to check that the download was at least correct?

Thanks

Same problem

I have the same problem too, but with more apps like Everything, Geek Uninstaller, Greenfish Icon Editor Pro, HWiNFO, Inkscape, TeamViewer, Wise Disk Cleaner, Wise Registry Cleaner. Some other apps are updated, but these fail Sad

Possibly a hashing issue

The apps listed here as no longer updating have SHA-256 checksums in the update.ini file for the Hash field. Apps that are claimed to update for folks running Win7 are using MD5 hashes. It would be nice if the Portable Apps platform would settle on a single universal hashing scheme rather than the current mess of two different hashing options that causes random problems that are tough to track down.

By the way, switching from MD5 to SHA-256 doesn't technically improve anything if the goal is "improved security" while the core software still retrieves the main update.ini file over plain HTTP from the Portable Apps server. Anyone can intercept that initial plaintext HTTP request and transform it at will. Stronger cryptographic hashes only improve security if they are used in the correct context: PKI and digital signatures. Outside of that, they are just very fancy checksums.

All Fixed

The above were fixed a while ago and were due to some quick updates. We've standardized on SHA256 and are updating as new apps are released. Both update on Win7 without issue. Even back to WinXP.

The platform updates via https on Win7 and above automatically. http is only used for XP and Vista due to them not supporting modern protocols. It will fallback to http if your PC is misconfigured or has modern protocols disabled.
