Autoruns Portable 14.09 Rev 2 - old version for Windows 7

I've just noticed that Rev 2 update caused to use an older version of Autoruns (13.1) on my Windows 7 x64. I have been using v14 with no issues so far. Before the Rev2 update, I wasn't even aware that the app dropped support for older OS. Is it really necessary for Win 7 to use the older version? I really miss the dark mode which was introduced in v14.

Yes

Yes, it's necessary. It crashes for lots of folks because it's unsupported on Windows 7. The whole reason for this update was a frustrated Windows 7 user with crashes. The current release also crashes about 5 seconds after launching on my clean Windows 7 virtual machine.

You're welcome to download a 14.x release yourself and keep it separately. But it's unsupported by Microsoft and by us now.

Can you point me at any

Can you point me at any changelog or announcement where they mentioned dropping support for older OSes? I have been looking for it but I have found nothing so far. The CHM file included with the "Modern" version states "Autoruns works on Windows XP and higher, including 64-bit Windows.".
Also, any specific reason why the legacy version of 13.1? Anything newer above 13.1 crashes?

No Announcement

Microsoft doesn't announce it for Sysinternals stuff. They stopped including Windows 7 in the list of supported operating systems soon after Windows 7 end of lifed and when they started switching their build process. That means they also stopped testing it on Windows 7. In cases like this, we'll often continue supporting it for a bit if it's mostly stable. It stopped being mostly stable this year. Ignore the help files as they are outdated. It throws a not a win32 app error on Windows XP.
