I noticed when I updated Firefox that it changed the name in PAM to Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition and I noticed the same name change for Sunbird but not for Thunderbird. The two questions I have is why the name change for the two first apps and not the third? and if I just update firefox directly and not download it from the website am I missing out on anything??

A new version of TB hasn't been posted since the name change was made official by Mozilla. I'll be posting a Rev 2 before the next Suite release next week so they're all consistent in the new Suite. The only change to the launcher from 2.0.0.0 is the new name: Version History

update of Thunderbird, it will have the same name structure.
Its just a change of the displayed name so you wont miss anything using the built-in update feature.

probally change the names in the next release.
