Hey there. As skype is closed source, i searched for an alternative beeing open source, nearly as powerfull as skype and runs on linux as well as windows. I tried gismo but figured out soon, that it isn't as stable as skype.
Now i found wengo and wonder if it would be possible to built a portable version of 2.0 as there already is a portable version of 0.99 (which can be found in forums around there).
I think wengo would be a good alternative to skype and its published under GPL, so there shouldn't be any issues concerning licences. See http://www.openwengo.org/

Too bad, that nobody seems to interest for this piece of software... i think it would be nice to have an all in one messenger plus some sort of skype in one program
I am interested. There ain`t very much open source voip or any other phone clients. But wengo is nice. You have a contact list, messenger and voip. It`s not stable, bugfree and feature rich as skype but it`s already in a useable state.
Please make it portable!
I agree, it would be nice. Just a thought...

Thanks for the link, but I don't have the time to test every single app concerning the portability. That's why I only trust portableapps.com. The Guys around here in the forums and John - the owner of this outstanding good site - do a great job.
Just great! Also hosting wengo on this page would boost it. Then we just need to hope that this app don`t become like evil skype.
I'm working on some apps and they probably will all be released here.
