This application technaclly is portable. It, however, was not intended for portable use. It was made for downloading programs and installing them automatically. It currently has a number of programs from portableapps.com and a few other apps.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pa-install
Note: this is open source/MITed.
Features:
Auto-Update: I can update the application list on my site and it will get the new apps. This can be disabled by deleting the updateiniurl key (or by setting it to an empty string).
Direct Copy: Dont't extract, copy.
Batch Command: run a batch command when the install is completed (to rename files, delete files, create files, etc.) [Note: this will now prompt before executing]
7-Zip and Universal Extractor: PAI Extracts archives using 7-Zip by default installation. UniExtract can be used instead.
Pretty handy. Nice work
EDIT:
I added all the "Non-PortableApps" apps, and it downloaded them, and began installing them for a whiel, (It's cool to watch it automaticially do everything) And then. It's all like...
For the beta release:
Archive/Installer to extract:
Installer\downloads\6.exe
Destination directory:
f:\\PortableApps\
Blah blah blah....
And popped up with...
Installer\downloads\6.exe does not exist.
Please select a valid file.
It came like that to me, have you downloaded the archive?
And for the creator, thanks, I find no bugs, maybe John will modify it with a bit more design? I'ts not important though, and people keep asking John for an installer like this. Anyways well done! Hope to see some more soon!

@Have Some Patience: I don't get any errors.
I am wondering if I should replace Universal Extractor with 7zip. 7z has a command line version that would be "safer." (Meaning that you can use a different window when installing.)

I now have a sourceforge page and a new version is out.

Very nice, but I would like to see it possible to download them to the desktop, "My Documents", or other folder on the PC so that you could test them, etc. Oh, and I know that some did not exist then, but you should have all apps (KompoZer Portable, KeePass, others) listed.

Good idea. This is primarily for new users so they can get started.

Thanks. It's really great for people who are really new with computers and don't even know how to navigate throught Explorer. You just select the drive. Which, it rules out the local drives, (handy) and go.
hey MISIIM you should change you sig link. John has a rule that non-personal sites are not allowed in the signiture

I used this a few days a go and it is awesome, thanx!
I have just added some more features. Portable App Installer now prompts before executing a batch command (for security purposes). 7-Zip is now used by default for extracting archives. Universal Extractor can be used but is not included because it is not totally opensource (some programs it includes are opensource) and cannot be hosted on sf.

Could I bundle this wonderful app with my future portable application suite?

As all of ya should know Microsoft is the Evil Empire, and Windows (a.k.a. Winblows or Windoze) is their greatest general, so please make a difference and install Linux or Free BSD on yer Windows comp.
Yes, Under the terms of the MIT License (main program) and the LGPL (7-Zip).
