Assuming this is a request for a portable version of a program called Halo.
The correct forum would be:
https://portableapps.com/forums/general/request_apps
And the post should include:
"who, what, where, why" [never When ]

He joined and 5 minutes later he posted an offer saying he had Halo 1 portable and offered to give it to people if they emailed him. I altered the post removing his email address and saying that offering illegal software was against the rules here. He apparently then edited out all the changes I made so he's now banned.
After all that work trying to make a post that was polite, accurate, and helpful.

Poor Tim.
I liked your reply.

Some people are just like that. Wise decision, John. Violating the guidelines is one thing. Clearing out a moderator's changes are another.
P.S. I really shouldn't be talking however, because I violated the Forum Guidelines twice or maybe 3 times before, but hasn't everybody at some point. I've stopped though.

Windows? They're what I look out of while running Linux!
I hate having to ban people. I've only had to ban, I think, 3 real people in the history of the site. 2 for illegal software. 1 for abusive behavior (swearing at developers is not a good way to get a requested feature implemented). That's not including the automated spammers which we get 1 or 2 new ones a week... which is why there's a spam filter on comment and forum topic postings that limits the number of links, etc. Out of 30,000+ registrations, I think that's pretty good.
Like I'd said, please check your email for what I'd sent. Hopefully, we'll get things sorted and get you involved.
I read the e-mail, John. Thanks.
BTW, how many times would someone have to violate the guidelines to get banned? Or does it depend which guidelines?

It's on a case by case basis. If it occurs after moderator guidance, I've used temporary bans before.
I haven't had to in a long time now.
Yeh. I can remember 1 I think. bluefoxicy was one. Damn, that guy hated me.
Also, John, I've sent you the image for WinBoard.

That was the user. And that was one of the 10 different usernames he created. He was one pissed off 11 year old.
I'm responding now.
How do you know he was an 11 year old?
Oh, and who's Steve?

I'd say from his profile.
