Sending e-mails from different addresses with Thunderbird

Hi,

I'm presently using Thunderbird Portable to manage 4 e-mail accounts.

My problem is that all e-mails that I send have the same address as a sender.
Even if I select another address from where to send a message from, the recipient always ends up seeing only one and the same of my addresses (the first in my list that happens to be from a google account).

As a result I cannot choose from what address to sent my mails from.

Do you know what I can do to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Voiper

I was going to say that Thunderbird only allows one outgoing server, but upon double-checking this, I find that I am wrong.

Go to Account Settings. Under your last account, you will see settings for "Outgoing Server (SMTP)". Click on that and it allows you to enter additional outgoing servers.

Then go back to the account settings for the individual email account and select your outgoing server from the drop down list.

I have not tried this myself because I did not previously know this was possible. I will probably try this over the weekend. You learn something new everyday.

It does work

I have 3 addresses and 3 outgoing servers. If yuo have the message window open, it lets you specify the sender address from a dropdown menu.

faulty installation?

For me, I use 4 different emails, with 3 different servers. And depending on which account I am in, a reply will put that account's email in the From spot. And I can manually change the From if I wanted to as well. That's how it normally works for me in the regular and the portable version.

I also use just one outgoing server for all my emails, so I don't think the previous suggestion would matter.

Thanks a lot Folks, I was

Thanks a lot Folks,

I was able to solve the problem by entering additional outgoing servers.
I had some problems to set the outgoing server for my university e-mail address (unisg): it didn't seem to work. But in the end I found out that I first had to login as a VPN-client (a protected connection) and then it worked.

Again: Thanks a lot for your precious help Smile
