Is there a portable app similar to Free Commander

Free Commander is a file handling utility similar to the old File Command of Win 3.1 but on steroids. It can be viewed at www.FreeCommander.com. There are more viewable features than Windows Explorer along with a greater overall versatility. It will install to a flash drive and appears to be fully functional even when running on other than the original host computer. If WinRar from RarLabs is running on the host computer both zipped & rared files can be viewed as though they are just another folder. Photos selected in 1 pane can be viewed in the other while still retaining the full file, folder path of the file in view in the original pane. Any feedback on a possible Portable Apps substitute would be appreciated.

As all of ya should know Micro$oft is the Evil Empire, and Windows (a.k.a. Winblows or Windoze) is their greatest general, so please make a difference and install Linux or FreeBSD on yer Windows comp.

Yes

I know it works from the flash drive but I was wondering about getting it to appear in the portable apps menu list.

Oh, simple.

Any executable placed under a sub-directory of the PortableApp directory will appear, say X:\PortableApps\FreeCommanderPortable\freecommander.exe

Wow, I just noticed I still had a signature, that's enough of that.

Total Commander

Total Commander. It's payware, but definitely worth the price.

Total Commander. It's payware, but free for use

Hi, you can Pay the Total Commander. Then your Name is written in the Tittle and on Start you do not need to klick OK.
All other functionality are in the freeware version of Total Commander the same.
So it is a very helpful tool for all the Filehandling Local, on Network or via FTP/SFTP until Smartphone (complete Freeware as Total Commander)

Unreal Commander

Try Unreal Commander (http://x-diesel.com/), pretty much like Total Commander, even with plugin support, and it's free.

I see some reported security problems for Unreal Commander

Security leaks with FTP, and with malformed Zip and Rar files.
These reports are from late August 2007.

I seem to be blocked from author's website, so I don't know if these issues are being addressed.
