Current Application Development
To make things easier, I thought I'd make a chart of portable applications in development, who the developer is, what stage it's in, etc. So, I'll add to this list over time, and you can let me know what you're doing to. But since PortableApps.com is really planning to open to outside developers and make things easier for them, I thought this would stop multiple application efforts at once. Maybe John has an idea like this soon, but this will get us started on it.
Application Developer Status License PAF? Version
7-Zip John T. Haller Completed Yes 4.42 R2 Multiling.
Abiword John T. Haller Completed Yes 2.4.6 Multiling.
CDisplayEx Community/Joint Beta Yes 1.4 PR5
cdrtfe wraithdu Beta Yes 1.3.0.2 PRERELEASE4
GNU Backgammon BuddhaChu Alpha/Beta Gnu GPL Yes 0.15-PRERELEASE2
InfraRecorder John T. Haller Beta Yes 0.43.1 Pre-Release 4 Multiling.
Mozilla Firefox (R)PE Mozilla/John T. Haller Completed Moz Tri? Yes 2.0.0.8 en-US / de
Simple SS Espreon Beta Yes ?
SpeedCrunch Patrick Patience Alpha Yes 0.8 Pre-Release 1
Tick5 BuddhaChu Alpha/Beta Gnu GPL Yes
VisualBoyAdvance Ormus Beta Yes/Almost? 1.8.0beta3
WinBoard RyanMcCue Beta Yes 4.2.7 Pre-release 3
Wormux BuddhaChu Alpha/Beta Gnu GPL Yes 0.8-PRERELESE
X-Chat Patrick Patience Beta Yes 2.8.4 Pre-Release 1
Xenon MISIIM Beta MIT? Yes(Not NSIS) 1.2.7 Beta
If you have any category suggestions, let me know, also if you think the status of a project should be changed, let me know. I'll keep adding to this, this is just a quick example. Maybe if we sticky it, it will stop at least a few double app requests (it's easier than searching) Patience

Add in Tick5 and Wormux for me

Alpha/beta status is about right too, but all the kinks discovered so far have been sorted for all three apps. I'm waiting on the new splash screen and wizard.bmp to show up and then I'm recompiling & posting a new version of each.

I just now checked the websites of all three apps and they're all using the GPL licence.

Check spelling of "license" in the chart. Wink

Is the PAF column going to be a Yes/No option indication if it's in "fully PAF compliant" format?

A defintion of what you consider "up-to-date" would be good too. Contains the latest released version of an app maybe (not a beta/developer release)?

Sure, I'll add them in

Thanks, I always had trouble spelling it. Yea, it'll be a Yes, No, or Partially. Up-To-Date, as in with the current version number. I know quite a few of the apps from PortableApps.com are currently not up to date as John's been busy, so this way we'll keep track of what needs to be updated. So yea, basicially what you said. Don't forget me and

SSS Portable and PDE Portable (pretty sure you can figure it out).

I thought ormus dropped development on VBA Portable (probably since VBA has not been updated in a while.)

Well,

I tried converting that to a table, but it didn't work properly.

Also, I'm going to set up a proper development page for this at some point.

Thanks

You know I can't edit it now eh? Blum I think it's because it contains the table which I'm not aloud to use.

(Oops, I guess this comment Goes to Marko, I missed his comment)

Hopefully John can set me up with Moderator privileges.

Probably

I'm going to put one up later tomorrow in the development section. I'll take a look through the Beta Testing forums though.

MIT

The MIT License for Xenon is correct, however it does include some LGPL and Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike parts. (7-Zip, 6-Zip, and Icons (except the logo))

I don't know if I would call it PAFed as it doesn't have a help.html or an installer, although that is because it is not an official PA App.

Its GPL, alpha stage almost paf compliant but I have to update to the newest version and finish it and then upload it.

I'd still be editing it...

But I can't. I don't have privleges to use the table in there so I can't edit it anymore. It would be appreciated if someone could switch it back.

Since he isn't a moderator,

Since he isn't a moderator, he can't edit the table. Tables require Mod Permissions

As zgitrdun said

Unfortunately...

I'd much rather John set me up with moderator permissions if he sees this as I sent him an e-mail 'bout it and I don't think it's too hard to set up quickly.

I would

If the table was removed.

As much as I appreciate it, I can't edit my own post with the table.
(and I've been asking for 12 days now to have it switched)

pardon me ...

... but I've believed that You get moderator state Sad

What shall we do ...
remove the table in order to allow You to add new Apps or should I add the needed entries?

Nope

Ryan set me the author of https://portableapps.com/apps/games/tile_world_portable, and we discovered although he set me the author, apparently I need the permissions.

For now, I'd appreciate if you could remove the table, but hopefully John sees this an gives me the moderator role (or at least a role to use tables) as he asked me to e-mail him about moderating.

Side Note: John, I would appreciate it a lot as I'm always around as well and spam is left in the off-topic forums for days because you never go there, and Ryan does after a few days.

Gee

Too bad you can't make a new table in a new posting with updated entries.

The original entry can be

The original entry can be updated by the appropriate people...which brings me to mention that the current status of Firefox should be changed to 'up to date - yes' with the release of the .8 point release.

"PA Ver" & "Current" columns...

Once y'all get the table-editing stuff sorted out, I have a suggestion. Instead of a binary "Up-to-date?" column, how 'bout two columns that show the current PA and in-the-wild versions of a particular app? If they ain't equal, PA isn't Up-To-Date.

For example:

Application PA Developer Status License PAF?	PA Ver Current
---------------	---------------	--------- ------- -----	-------	-------
Mozilla Firefox	John T. Haller	Completed Moz Tri Yes	2.0.0.8	2.0.0.8
Notepad++ 	John T. Haller 	Completed 	  Yes	4.2.2 	4.4

Just a thought. -hea

Not quite

The original entry can be updated by the appropriate people...

Unfortunately the originator isn't one of the "appropiate people" and he is the one that wants to. The "appropiate people" don't have the time.

Posting an updated table is faster, easier, involves less people, reduces the number of postings and solves the problem.

offsite table

Just create a table on a webpage on a webserver somewhere and link to it that way you can edit it.
