Hi
A few weeks back my extensions stopped working on "foreign" (ie, not my own) computers. They just don't appear. This is quite annoying as I am a university lecturer and I show my students how to use many of the extensions, but I now have to switch to the local installation of Firefox because I can't access any of my extensions when running my Firefox Portable away from home. I also lose my spelling dictionaries (I only have access to US English when away from home). Any ideas? The extensions all seem to be installed on my portable hard drive.
extensions use the registry
so different registry there are no extensions
Please search before posting. ~Thanks
No, they don't. Most Firefox extensions have nothing at all to do with the registry.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
if you want
file.html
to open with firefox portable you have to modify the registry don't you?
Edit:
Oh never mind I get it "extensions" means like add-on extensions
ok well disregard my previous post
Please search before posting. ~Thanks
It's all controlled in mimeTypes.rdf. That's how you can integrate portable apps, like TBP, into FFP.

Yea, that'd be in the registry. If you wanna open file.html in TPB, then you can use Firefox's mimeTypes.rdf.
Ryan doesn't read well. He's still grade 9, you know.
P.S. If you don't mind, Simeon, out of curiosity, how old are you? (wow, comma happy. :))
Ryans age. I even know his address and birthday
And I am 21, going to university and spending too much time in these forums.
Anything els you wanna know???
Ohh I forgot one thing: I love Portableapps and use them every day.
and btw I love your homepage (the one in the sig)...but its kinda empty
and I love smileys

The one at the Homepage link? Cause yes, it's empty.
Yea, I thot you were fairly young. Maybe not that young, but young.
And I love smileys more. But I like Hylke's best. These ones are kinda meh.
Address eh? What's the word for that. Umm...peda..pedaf...Pedaphile! That's it. Kidding.
Actually it would be Child Molester.
Ryan is too old for pedophilia.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
I meant the homepage link...

Are you using FFPE 2.0.0.10?
This is very odd. Sounds like a setup issue. I have used my flash or portable hard drive on at least a dozen different computers and have never had this issue. Sounds like your FFPE is not istalled on your drive properly. I would back up, delete, then re-install FFPE 2.0.0.10 (which you should then auto-update to 2.0.0.11). I would also re-install the extensions individually and not copy them back over from your profile.
You can then copy over the pieces of the profile you want to save. Plugins, bookmarks, cookies, signons, etc. If you need help with that then post back and I can guide you through that.

Are you sure you are using FirefoxPortable.exe and not App\firefox\firefox.exe?
The only other option (as far as I can see) is that you may have a corrupt extensions.rdf. Try deleting it and then running FFP.

I'm definitely using FirefoxPortable, as all my bookmarks go with me. I'll try your suggestions when I get chance.

I was also getting errors when trying to install extensions when using other computers. By searching for that problem I found people with the same problem, and the solution was simply to delete extensions.rdf.
