Portable PDF printer Distiller

Hello

I want a printer in the system like Adobe distiller, so that I can print drawings as pdf from my CAD software.

Any portable solutions for me

Does it have to be portable?

I do not know of a portable CAD software. Or are you using someone else's computer for the CAD software? That would explain the need for a portable printing solution.

If you can export the documents into some sort of office format like word etc. You might then be able to use OpenOffice.org Portable. It has an export/print to .pdf option.

I personally use CutePDF Writer. It is not portable but is an excellent solution for printing anything to pdf.

What Cad software?

What is the Cad software you are using?
Most have the capability to export to pdf/jpg/png etc and in most cases can be imported into excel etc like for instance Alphacam.

Using a printer driver for

Using a printer driver for PDF is likely to require installing, which is an admin function.

There are some good free "printer driver that creates PDF" programs around. If you do have admin privileges, you could install one of those, or find an admin to do it. See http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ for one.

For portable, if the machine already has some sort of Postscript printer driver installed, you could probably print to a (postscript) file, then run something to convert the postscript file to PDF. (I think Ghostscript can do that.) But not all machines have Postscript printers either, and I'd guess that changing printers or configuring a printer to print-to-file is an admin function on a lot of those machines too.

Are there other formats that your CAD program can create, such as a vector graphics file? Maybe there is a standalone program that could convert such a file to PDF.

Thanks a lot for the

Thanks a lot for the extensive suggestions.

My CAD is not portable.( That is my next dream, but can wait!)

My CAD is ORCAD, for creating circuit schematics and PCB design.

I have to print the schematics into PDF so that it can be distributed or printed in different systems. Now I cam using adobe distiller in the print dialogs.

As far as I know the ORCAD is not having any facility to export schematics into other formats.

As far as I know I should get a printer in system to do my task. Orcad can create print files (.prn). can it be any use in our portable applications to create into pdf?

Thanks a lot
