Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 2

Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 2 is the second test release of the upcoming 3.0 version of Firefox. With tons of new features, security enhancements, performance upgrades and more, it's one of the most widely-anticipated releases this year. And, thanks to the PortableApps.com packaging, you can try out all the new features without impacting your locally-installed copy of Firefox. For more on what's new, read the Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 2 Release Notes.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

what is the best way to install this and be able to revert back easily to FF2 if need be? i want to try it but i dont want to mess up my portable apps that are working great including FF2

thanks

This package will by default install to \PortableApps\FirefoxPortableTest folder.

This will allow you test this release without hurting your current install. You can copy over portions of your profile as needed. I did not use my profile from my FFPE 2.0.0.11 because of extension compatibility.

You will need to "import" your bookmarks from your other extension as they are a different format in FFPE 3.0. You can also copy your passwords and cookies over if you wish.

it wont mess with your ff2.
if you want to upgrade, make a backup of your Firefox Portable/Data folder and change FF3's instalation folder to your FF2. If it doesnt work, justdelete everything, install FF2 and copy your data folder back before you run FF2 for the first time.
That should work.

Thanks all for the info! I am getting a little confused sorry!

(1) DL and install FF3 and thats it? I will have both 2 and 3.

(2)If FF3 works out for me then transfer overbook marks etc etc

(3) extentions from 2 to 3 arent compatible?

If the above is correct what is the best way to get the benefits of 3 with the functionality of 2 in terms of addons and booksmarks, sage, etc etc will all that work?

thank you in advance!

Two Things

#1) Back And Forward Buttons

After Running This Beta App, The Back And Forward Buttons Would Not Work.

#2) Customize The Toolbars

I Customized The Location Of Some Stuff And Closed The Box After I Liked It. Tryed It Again It Wouldnt Let Me Click "Customize" Again

All support requests belong in the support forums (this is a news story's comments). Also, since this is beta software, unless it is confirmed working in Firefox 3 (standard version), we don't attempt to troubleshoot it in the portable version. If you still need assistance, please post a note in the Firefox Portable support forums.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Getting this error message..Firefox has caused an error in msvcrt.dll and sometimes ..Firefox has caused an error in (unknown) and will now close. Try restarting your computer and autostart http://www.trproxy.net site !
Well it happens all the time..

(Wow, I sounded a lot like John :p)

Also, note that it appears that you are using a Beta version, which may and probably does contain bugs. I don't know if your problem is a known bug, but you might want to check over at Mozilla.
