(First off, I can well imagine this has been asked before, still I couldn't find any thread on it. Perhaps I just haven't been looking hard enough. If so, advance apologies to the regulars round here.)
Is there a way to turn off the PortableApps splash screens?
It's not that I don't like them per se, and I realize that John uses them to create a coherent identity for his suite. I certainly don't mind them with apps that take longer to start than the splash screen is even on. However, smaller applications such as Sumatra PDF and 7-Zip start up really fast, and I find it slightly annoying to have to wait until the splash screen goes away before I can see what's in an archive of PDF.
If it's not possible to deactivate them altogether, can I reduce the time they're visible?
There's an [AppName]Portable.ini file in the source directory, move it to the same directory as the [AppName]Portable.exe. Edit the ini file to set the line "DisableSplashScreen=true".
There is a utility in the beta testing forums that should allow you to disable the splash screens as well. It can be found here.
And this question most definitely has been asked before. A quick search for "disable splash screen" yielded several results. No worries though, we're here to help find answers, not to criticize.

Somehow I just didn't even think of looking in the source folder. And I was searching only for "splash screen" rather than "disable splash screen", which produced way too many results. Looks like I'm no good at looking for things... Thanks for helping me out.
No problem, glad I could help out.
