Portable iTunes?

I know this has been posted many times before, but so far, I've only seen people saying that a portable iTunes won't work because it is a computer dependent program - it only works on one computer at a time. But is it possible to make it think that the USB device is the actual computer? ...and then I would just have to create a launcher for QuickTime?

I'm not asking for anybody to do this for me or even tell me how to do it. I'm just wondering if it's a possible idea to make iTunes a portable app without resulting to desktop virtualization.

Well

I can't say much. But I can say that we won't be hosting iTunes Portable here, as even if it could be made portable with a launcher of some sort, it's copyrighted software for one big reason.

However, I believe Songbird Portable is in the works, and it supports iTunes.

I'll use Songbird when the bird stops passing gas, but I suspect Hell will freeze over first. Sad

Floola is an awesome iTunes

Floola is an awesome iTunes alternative, I don't use iTunes at all any more. I just manually installed it in PortableApps on my iPod - it's already a standalone executable as it's designed to run from an iPod in disk mode. I use AtomicParsely to setup the tags correctly for TV episodes that I encode because Floola doesn't have the option of setting up the seasons etc, but apart from that, it can do nearly everything that iTunes can, although it's a little clunkier and slower. But if you persist, you'll really start to appreciate it. The only downside is it's not open source, but it's freeware, and "certified safe".
