You can't just defrag 1 file, because that file is all over and then you'd have to defrag other files to get the fraged file in one place...

In the best case, you can just read in the whole file and move it to an area on the drive with enough contiguous free space. If the drive is fairly full, then you may have to move a bunch of other stuff around to get that much contiguous space, but I'm sure the program knows how to handle such a situation (even if that means just failing gracefully).

I will have a look tomorrow at work during dinner. Also, although this section is just for beta testing, some people do generally use them as full blown use so they need to know that Defraggler is actually a beta product itself and that caution is to be used.

Nathan, as I see you do it frequently, just be sure when you're hitting Add Comment, and when you're hitting reply. You hit Add Comment at the top of the thread when the comment applies to the thread, like the one you just made here. Only click Reply if you're replying to a specific comment.

Great! one of the best defrag software I've seen!
Works great on my pc.
(if it is called Defraggler Launcher Only, then why does it have defraggler.exe?)
If it has the exe then ill change that and reupload. btw, there is an update but im gonna wait till they finally get out of beta to update this.

There is a new release for defraggler, so just to be safe, I think I will check and see what is left behind again, but I wont be able to work on it till Sunday, I have to go to church all day tomorrow, literally. So I will try my hardest to get this updated for the newer version.

If one begins Defraggler with the Launcher, one can select with the languages only English. If one begins Defraggler.exe directly, all languages are available.

However doing this breaks the portability of your app. To run it portably just install it from the english launcher then there should be an option with Defraggler running to change language.

Update, please read above for changes. This now adds more functionality and fixes many bugs the nsis launcher of this had. Also the actual defraggler program is in a more stable state as the previous version was in beta. Settings are by default saved to an ini but can be changed to save to registry if wanted but there is no code in the launcher to take care of the registry. Download of this app is now an easy one click, following the download an automatic extraction of the zip file will happen and make the appropriate changes for you. So if one needs to, just completely delete the whole defragglerportable folder to start off fresh with the new one to avoid any problems, though non should arise. Any comments, feedback, or polite gestures are always welcome. Enjoy!

Glad you got around to this one. It's been a while since I last posted on this. Will be checking this more tomorrow. The files downloaded fine on first run, I presume this uses the Defraggler Portable zip file from Piriform?

Yeah it uses the portable build of defraggler, oh and also the portable build seems to by default write to the registry but my launcher creates an .ini file in the "App\Defraggler" directory so it tells defraggler to save by default to the ini instead of registry. As im sure one will notice I added in "# DefragglerPortable" to the top line of the ini and it doesnt seem to interfere with defraggler. Just getting this out there cause im sure somebody will bring up the registry part. It wont write to it unless you specify it to but its not really recommended.

If under "X: \ PortableApps \ DefragglerPortable" no folder "lang" exist, then no other language is selectable.
The folder "lang" under "App \ defraggler" is not respected.

well its cause this is the portable build from their site and it does not seem to come with the language files. Try putting the language folder into the defraggler directory and see if u can then choose a different language.
