Follow Simeon's post. It's working for me also using the same method. It's the way Aspell is packaged. They don't have a zip that you can just drop into Pidgin.
Make sure you have included the Aspell dll's that are required back into the installation. Those are most likely missing.
What dlls? From where to where? I installed aspell and then copied the app dir like before. No dice.
