I just let the firefox auto-update install version 2.0.0.14 and all of a sudden, firefox could not find any servers, including, but not limited to, mozilla.com and portableapps.com. I tried re-installing it by downloading the newest installer and it still doesn't work. I originally downloaded version 2.0.0.11 and it worked fine. Version 2.0.0.12 and 2.0.0.13 worked fine too, and they were installed by the firefox auto-update.
I also think that the update to 2.0.0.14 (I'm not sure if it was the auto-update or if it was the portable-apps installer) wiped out all of my plugins/extensions (They are not in the Data directory, but the Jars are in the plugins directory inside the normal firefox directory). I could not find the installer to install version 2.0.0.13 so I could revert to that (2.0.0.13 works fine for me). Could someone please either point me to the firefox portable 2.0.0.13 installer or tell me how to fix this?
One last thing. It might be because I just installed the newest Java Runtime Environment (this includes the JVM) and I uninstalled all of the older versions on my computer. Apparently this broke the ".jar" file association, and whenever IE 6 tries to load an applet, it crashes. The thing is, I apparently need to restart my computer to fix these bugs (the ones related the JVM/JRE), but I can't do that right now (just like I haven't been able to for the past few weeks). Might this be the cause of the problem? I am not sure because I already had 2.0.0.13 before I did this, but before I got 2.0.0.14. 2.0.0.13 was still working fine after I did this.
[edit] I rebooted my computer and figured out that the JVM/JRE has nothing to do with it
Anyways, I like being able to use firefox portable and I really don't want to revert to using the IE 6 browser my computer came with.
Will somebody please help me?
