Hi,
I tried to run PortableApps from a CD ROM (the media was actually a CDRW, but no writing was possible), but some applications failed (Notepad++, for example).
Isn't there a way to run from a read-only media? Is this application specific, some need to write on the media, others don't?
I also tried to format the CDRW as UDF but this would not work either (for some reason the PortableApps menu is not shown) and it is not portable if run from another computer without CD burner.

Ricardo
You are using ISO's for each, right?

what are you talking about? PortableApps.com apps can be loaded onto a CD and run from there. They aren't available in ISO format

Hi,
So there isn't any limitation? What I did was install PortableApps ou my PC and then burned the whole structure on a CD, but I'll try again, maybe I did something wrong.
I noticed from other posts that before burning that each application should be run once, could this be what is missing?

and for some Apps you have to use the ini to make it work. The procedure is outlined on the App's support page.

It's probably that the app needs to be run once first. It's best to run the app a few times and be sure you get everything configured the way you want it before copying to a CD. Also, there are some limitations. I don't know them all offhand, but your best bet would be to read the Running From A CD section of the support page for each app you wish to run from the CD
